Stop the Cobra bashing!

Why would I "take it from someone thats tested this model" when I've tested them myself?

I've identified the following models as being troublesome
XRS-9550G
XRS-9445
XRS-9955
XRS-9545
XRS-9565
XRS-9345
XRS-979
XRS-9630
ESD-7000 series

The ESD-7000 series is the most prolific and they seem to leak the worst, while the XRS only seem to alert for roughly 500ft to the front and 300ft to the rear the ESDs tend to have about 1/4mile to the front and 700ft to the rear, and they all put out at least Ka, some put out Ka and X harmonics, but that's less common.

Some old RS branded and Unidens and Whistlers will put out a low 3ft or so X signal.

The most similar detector you used to the 9960G was the XRS 9955. Everything else was 12 bands or lower I believe. You must be really dedicated to testing radar detectors to have tested that many Cobras.

Where did you test the 9955 at? In Pensacola, FL the 9960G's performance is completely acceptable for the price range. The XRS 9955 shouldn't cause any falses on other detectors. Did you test that with this model?

I won't complain about Cobra. Early in the 1990s we bought a Trapshooter RD-300from a Kmart that was closing for next to nothing. Around that time everything was X and K band, even though the RD-300 was offering Ka. It had a surprisingly good K band range, even if you pit it up against a modern detector it still holds its own in K band. Don't use it anymore but I'll admit when it was still used it did a nice job and had really good range. Also had nice clear distinct warning tones for the 3 bands.
