Default aura database updated constantly , how ?

All the media hype on the Aura database mentions that the database is updated 'constantly'.
How ? Where does the data come from ? Do users data from detectors feed back to them somehow ?

That article somewhat explains it. The AURA database is pretty legit, as far as locating cameras, but I have gotten quite a few falses as well.

I read the article, but they are keeping the source of the locations very mysterious. Are they relying on some freedom of information act type of request in the USA, or getting info from the installers ?
I would be more interested in data collected by actual Cobra units being driven around and uploading some real, multiple hits per location type of verified, data. How about data on popular mobile speed trap hangouts ? The *only* way to get that data is from users , I would think.

Yeah, I'm not sure on the technical aspects. People report cams, AURA employees do their best to verify them, then they are put in the database, I guess.

As far as mobile stuff, you can't rely on the AURA stuff. Have you heard of Trapster? If not, definitely check it out. It's a program where people report cams, known enforcement areas, live traps, and so on. You can download it to your GPS or phone. With a phone, you can get live updates, which comes in handy for the periodic mobile speed traps.

Something else that I failed to mention are the Cheetah products. I've never used one myself, but I've heard a lot of good things about them. I'd say their database is more legit than the AURA Database. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Cheetah uses the same database as Escort, which people really seem to like.

I have received a few falses from my 9500iX. It alerts to RLC's at an intersection, and I know that there are no RLC's at the location specified.

Yep, I'd say it happens quite often. I notice people on Trapster reporting redlight cameras and speed cameras in my area quite frequently; although, there aren't any in the area. Then, I report a known enforcement point that is 100 percent legit, but I get thumbed down, lol.

I bought my 9960 thinking I might get use of the database but it has been more of a curiosity. There are no cameras on my normal commute. However, it is a source of non-stop entertainment whenever I venture over to the DFW area.
