Ummm no. All cars that have Lane Assist/Blind Spot Detection run on K band and NOT on KA band. If your cobra is falsing on KA then it's either picking itself up or another leaky cobra. That's the only things besides possibly Satellite dishes and maybe the odd cell phone tower (that's more K/X I believe) that might cause it, but definitely not any of the lane assist/blind spot avoidance crap that every car seems to be getting now. People need to learn to use their damn mirrors and look over their shoulder instead of just randomly pulling into another lane *sigh*.

well I found my falsing source. It's all those cheap leaky wally world whistlers rd's on the road.

what it was was a local cop running a very sneaky radar set up

Didn't see him before because it was dark. Now I know where he is.

The newer Cobra's don't leak whatsoever in to the radar bands from my experiments with them and even a old one I have won't false to itself

From my experiences with the newer versions they are well filtered to falses while still detecting radar very well.

Something I can't say for many other brands I have used.

BTW My whistler 3200 remote will false to it's self in my garage

This Cobra on the other hand doesn't.

thanks for the lane assist info anyway

Dude what's your problem? You're bashing anyone who says anything "bad" about Cobra's. Do you work for them? All I said was there was a chance it was picking up a leaky cobra and yes they do leak, not sure about the high end models but the cheap ones do leak this has been proven time and time again. I've noticed you in several threads bashing anyone who says 1 word that might even indicate Cobra RDs in a bad light. Take a chill pill and relax, I wasn't bashing your precious radar detector and could care less what one you use, if you're happy with it that's what matters but don't be such a douche bag whenever someone is trying to be helpful and simply states that X might be the reason for Y even if it is saying your RD might leak. Hell Whistlers get bashed all the time in these forums but I don't go white knighting into all those threads to defend Whistler. I just ignore it and go on, I go by my results I get with my radar detector that I'm happy with and don't give 2 cents what another person thinks. So relax, I wasn't bashing your Cobra just merely stating what MIGHT be the problem.

wow, talk about needing a chill pill

You need a major Valium prescription

    >>> "what's your problem"

    >>>"You're bashing anyone who says anything "bad" about Cobra's."

    TOTAL COBRA BASHING EXAMPLE

    "Cobras Leak even to themselves"

    NO

they don't and I have own quite a few now

    None ever did

    Do some leak ?

It's a function of all rd superhytrodyne circuity

    even v1's leak

only a few special designed twin antenna spectre proof models don't because the l/o is filtered out specifically in their design

You simplistically equate ALL rd models that emit these frequencies to Cobras because that is what you see on the road primarily

It's because of the popularity of these low price models and ready access for purchase

Cheaper whistlers leak just as bad as do many other rd's

    even V1's leak !

    Bells, Escorts, ect

All you had to say here was lane assist isn't on ka band

    Simple

Then mention other sources as cell phone towers

you could say it might have another detector doing it

    That would be fine

but leave out the blatant Cobra Bashing

btw I did thank you for the lane assist info

but you forgot it in your rant

    look at it again

I recently tested some newer cobra models , even a cheaper 40 dollar one and they are the ones being set off by other detectors and not the other way around.

maybe it is your detector that is setting other detectors off.

    ever think about that?

    addendum

i just reread my last post to you over again to refresh my mind what i actually said to you.

It was VERY CIVIL, pleasant and well informed unlike your ranting diatribe of Hate.

    RELAX

    CHILL

? I thought I was being very polite in my post. The simple fact that I mentioned cobras is because those are the only ones I've PERSONALLY run into that false along with only 1 or 2 OLD (as in 6-7 years+) model whistlers that would leak, but I could visually verify almost every time my RD would false a COBRA hanging in someones window and as soon as I was out of range of that particular vehicle the false would go away. THIS IS FROM MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCES.

And yes Cobras DO leak to themselves. My wife has a higher end model Cobra that was given to her as a gift, it will alert to itself sometimes, and if she turns it on while my RD is running anywhere near her vehicle my RD goes nuts. So yes, it's not just the lower end models that leak, the mid-upper ones leak too and once again, this has been proven time and time again not just by me but by others.

I'm not picking a fight with you or bashing Cobras, if your RD works for you, IT WORKS FOR YOU. Like I said, I don't care what RD you use, if you're happy with it so be it. Just so you know I have yet to get a false alert look over and see a V1, a Bel/Escort or a Whistler other than the few I saw that were older models. It's ALWAYS been a Cobra that's set my RD off on Ka band recently even "top of the line" models I've seen set my RD off.

Yes ALL RDs leak except for certain ones made not to, but it's how they leak and what frequency and harmonics that matter and Cobra's just tend to always hit the Ka harmonic when leaking. But hey, that's just my personal observations and once again need I state this: I AM NOT BASHING COBRA RDs. IF THEY WORK FOR YOU AND YOU ARE HAPPY, THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. I AM SIMPLY STATING MY OWN FACTS THAT I HAVE PERSONALLY OBSERVED AND CAN REPORT.

    "very polite"?

It appears you believe the use of the word "douche bag" is a compliment term then.

    It isn't FYI

    ALSO TYPING IN ALL CAPITOLS

I have never had a Cobra leak to itself

    NEVER

    EVER

Personally I believe this is a complete BOGUS STORY on your part as I sincerely can't ever imagine you EVER letting your wife use such a shoddy leaky crappy detector.

One you obviously HATE with a passion so much.

I can only conclude if you actually are letting your wife use it that this Cobra is very satisfactorily for her and she is getting no tickets from it

Not the hallmark of a bad detector is it?

Never seen a Bell of a v1 alerting your detector ?

You know what the ratio of Bell/ V1 /escort users are to Cobra users ?

I have seen exactly ONE v1 on the road

    and no Bell detectors

In ALL my years of driving which are many many many.

and I do look for detectors BTW

    always have

But since you apparently are letting your wife use a Cobra to the general detriment of the higher end rd users club I can only conclude your NOT a basher and don't mind their leaking so much

except when your driving your own vehicle and not using a Cobra.

I'm new, but I've already gotten a sense of this site. It's just like a stereotype, it's hard for me to get help or advice from the experts when they hear I have a Cobra... have to live with it, but new ones are A LOT better. And that guy you guys look up to whatever did a review of one and was also impressed.

Don't take one example and turn it into a stereotype... not cool.
