    Default New Cobra SPX 4300

Just bought one of these last week for 120 dollars.

Found out Crutchfield had it for 100$ !

    damn

been using it now for around a week now.

    very quiet in town

    almost TOO quiet I thought

I thought it might be a defective unit

I was running it with my Cobra 650 g and they were behaving very well together

    almost too well !

the only time they would set each other off was on calibration at start up.

I thought it was a case of each detector blanking the other out with filtering until I ran into some actual police radar today.

the spx 4300 appears to be a tad more receptive then the 650 g but JUST a tad

it could be where I mounted each too

the new units are a low emission receivers and are a upgrade to the esd series which aren't bad for their price still at around 40 $ to 80 dollars+

So far i can report my two cobra's play well together.

The new cobra's have got a good handle on not emitting random microwave traffic energy but the XRS and esd modes weren't half bad either.

Cobra has gone to using all low noise mimic oscillators across the board even in their cheapest units instead of the old gun diode microwave oscillators whistler appears to STILL be using in their lower end units !

Whistler has not used Gun diode oscillators on over 3 years.

Not what the FCC Id photos shows on the lower models mike.

Now maybe this was changed without the fcc knowing it

frankly I don't know why they wouldn't want to at this point.

Post some picks of these updated LOWER model models interiors will you so we can see this for ourselves

Will you please post the new whistler innards pics in the whistler forum Mike. Frankly I have been looking the fcc id up and down and sideways the new versions without gun diode's that you say, can not be found

Even the new ones keep going back to a old gun diode model platform !
