Default Running a Bel 995 and Vedttta together/ observations

I have been using a Bell 995 and a Vedetta now for a while. They play very well together indeed. Their range is almost identical but the vedetta doesn't have exact freq display which is nice and the bell fills in this void.

Observations The vedetta will sometimes show a ka band when confronted by multiple k band store openers The Bell sorts them out a lot better.

The vedetta will distinguish instant on a lot better then the Bell

The bell shows multiple short shots as C/O as the signal alarm lingers a lot longer

I have noticed this about Cobra - detectors. They will pick up a policeman doing multiple shots far better then Bell units that will show them as a constant source quite often

I don't know about the newer bell units in the 300/500 series but I suspect they may do this also.

I wouldn't run two detectors together because they might seem like their playing well with each other but they are really interfering with the two on at the same time.Your performance will diminish even if your not aware until it's to late after the L.E.O. is pulling you over.

So far they appear to alert to the very same signals at almost the exact same times !

I run the same route every day and have seen this running them both together and separately. Normally I would agree with you though. This is true with many detectors.

There may be a tad of what you say but so far very little that I can see.

Still testing well "under the limit"

I know from using a cobra XRS-9950 the big screen many years ago it would also alert to a Ka when in fact it was coming from a k band door opener from the local Walgreen's.Cobra really needs to slow down on their mass production and focus on some of the small issues with the units like we are talking about.I really like the look of the Vedetta and wouldn't mind getting my hands on one but i would like to know how well it works @ picking up lidar, any encounters yet with yours?I can't believe it picks up better than a Bel though.

I really don't know how well it does with lidar yet as my local guys just use radar.

Speed-zones may tell you about that. So far it has been a pretty darn good detector and a pleasure to use daily with all it's nice features. It is pretty BIG though. This isn't a problem as it looks like a gps display and police can't never tell the difference from behind which is really nice.

excellent in fact. All detectors should look like this IMO.

It will misidentify k as ka on occasion when many different signals are present at one time in town. This is know doubt my fault because it has a city setting which I should probably be using but with the rpm mute function town driving is hardly a problem so I totally forget to use it.

If cobra ironed out that occasional mus-identification it would be even better.

    A real peach in fact.

I have to tell these cobra guys about this problem. Maybe they can correct it if they are made aware of it.

My whistler 78 Se does the very same thing only it does it with X BAND which truly is a big pain !

K to ka band mis-identification is much less of a problem as these two bands are heavily used by the police and one needs to slow down either way.

That's what i also like about Vedetta and the Passport I.Q. they both don't look anything like a R.D. to an L.E.O.I think more people should start making Cobra aware of the mis-identification problem so they'll get to the source of the problem faster in the future.I did check out Speed Zones awhile back but don't remember anything on the Vedetta about it's Lidar reception but after this post I'm going to check it out and get back to you soon.Keep me up to date on anymore testing you do with the Vedetta, please! Yes, it is truly wonderful having a detector that looks nothing like one. No worry about the police seeing it.

A newer cheaper Cobra I purchased a while back doesn't seem to have the mis-identification problem. Maybe they fixed it with later models.

It does look like a detector and doesn't have half the features or it's special freq display so I will keep using my Vedetta I believe.

Ya, I will keep you informed. So far I do like it a lot. I just wish I knew you were interested. There was a shopping channel I bought it from that cut the price FAR lower then the competition before they finally sold it out.

Even lower then I bought it at the time in fact by a significant degree !

I'm not a huge fan of Cobra R.D.'s but ever since i owned a XRS-9700 model many years ago, which now I think about it,out performed even my XRS-9950 the first big screen made by Cobra and seen how well the 9700 actually performed against the Stalker D.S.R 2x and the Kustom Signals Eagle plus 35.5 around corners, hills etc. I'm very much so now proud of Cobra's advancements in their R.D.'s,especially with the new Vedetta.I'm going to wait until someone loses one or sells one to a Pawn Shop around here in Tulsa and snatch it up.You wouldn't believe what I've seen and bought in these Pawn Shops around here.I very much interested in the Vedetta and excited to get my hands on one of those units!

I fear getting one that way will not allow you to update your aura data base as I can for free. This is a real nice feature when you travel any distance.

I should try using a pawnshop here to get a new v1 though. I have a model that is far too old to update economically. I quit using it long ago after numerous tickets and far too much squawking chicken little alerts in town.

I may want to see how the new ones work now just for kicks.

I don't know if I should even waste the dough. MY 650 is a pretty civil detector for day to day use.
