The laser falsing is because the wind shear sensors at airports operate on the same wavelength as LIDAR...

    frog-
POP is on Ka and K bands. The Rx65 will detect both.

    [/b]I got my RX65 Today.

Well I live in the city and I turned on POP and the kU band. I did 45 miles around my city and not one time did I come across an officer with radar on. I ran into 8 of them. About 4 of them had radar but it never went off.

It falsed 8 times on POP in front of Sack N Save food store. It seems like when you get just far enough away from it, it gets a small short signal and it says POP. Then it did it at walgreens as I was moving away from it.

But overall I would say it seems to cut out most of the automatic doors. I think I will disable pop around here as I don't think anyone is using it but I am sure to find out here soon.

Yes, with POP enabled it falses more and disabled it's much quieter. I believed factory default setting has it purposes but KA band select to Int'l and it's similarly in activating Accusweep

After having the RX65 now for a few days I am certainly goin got disable that POP mode. It just goes off way to much. Last night I was sitting at a self servce car wash and it went of 18 times. Just sitting there. I am not real concerned about it though. I am glad it can be disabled.

some carwashs use microwave sensors....also some neon displays in them set off lazer as I found with my Bell but it was about 10ft. from the display. My Bell is a champ at picking up true lazer and resisting lazer falsing unlike one 400$ model we all know and love... :P

My X50 would do the same darn thing which was one of the main reasons why I became a Veliever. POP on my X50 was usless to me do to the falsing issue. When POP was disabled it was GREAT though.

The other day was commuting along Seremban - Highway - MALAYSIA, my RX65 saved me a ticket and alerted X band over 5 to 6miles giving me suffcient times to react and commuting back to SINGAPORE again alerted X band and it saved me another ticket. It's a good detector with excellent range.

Glad to hear that the RX is working well for you. I seem to remember that you had some doubts about it at first.

    frog,
glad to see your hanging in there with it. ka can be a pain sometimes, regardless of detector. i've had encounters recently where i pick it up over a mile away, and others where i'm 1/4 mile away, i'll pass them and it never goes full alert, then goes quiet. and this is on the same stretch of highway. it wasn't instant on either, because he was out of his unit looking at an abandoned vehicle on the side of the road.
As for reaction time, i'm not sure at what point in the warning, you are actually being clocked. when detectors go full alert is there still a bit of time before you are actually in range( constant source, building up with proximity). hopefully all detectors are overcautious when they build up to full alert
RadarRoy may have the answer to that one.
