    Default LASER HIT FROM BEHIND

Too bad, but it happened. 2day was goin on RT81 in PA on a rental Explorer doin 85mph instead of 65mph. There was a place, where the opposite traffic doesnt c each other, since one direction is goin at the top of the hill, and the other one on the bottom. So I was goin on the bottom part doin 85mph, when I passed the road that connects two opposite directions on the highway (it has a "NO U TURN" sign on it). As soon as I passed it, my V1 alerted me Laser and pointed backwards...and there he was, a state trooper facing downwards (as I said I was on the bottom part) towards the highway...Pulled me over, gave me a ticket, was very RUDE (co*ksuc*er), and PLUS gave me another ticket for a GPS Navi, mounted to the CENTER (!) of the windshield via suction cup, tellin me that it is classified as an obstruction to the drivers sight and illegal in that state (PA). Needless, to say as soon as he was done talkin, I pulled onto the highway not even sayin anything to him. With all that said and done, I'm still wondering HOW DID HE GET ME WITH THE LASER, WHILE SITTING IN THE CAR? (he couldnt get me from outside, cuz he didnt simply have enough time-he pulled RIGHT AFTER ME). The other thing is, can somebody plz answer my questions?
    1. Is the LASER effective during night time( I mean can they use it at dark?)
    2. Is the POP mode and INSTANT-ON is the same thing?
    3. Is the LASER always ON, like a RADAR GUN, or there is an actual trigger u have to pull?
    4. Why cops cant get u, if u pass by them by, and they turn ON their radar guns (is it like the radar gun takes some time to warm up, and while it does that it emmits signals, that can be picked up by a radar detector, before the gun is actually pointed at u?)

Thx in advance for the answers to my questions, and be carefull- THERE IS A LOT OF SNEAKY SONS OF A B*TCHES, THAT WILL WILL GET U FROM THE BACK :x

He could have shot the laser gun through the windsheild of his car and got you. Laser guns can be shot through glass, but it reduces the range.

    1. Laser is even more effective at night.

    2. POP is a specific form of instant on radar specific to some models of MPH radar guns. It is either 16ms or 67ms in duration and must be used from a stationary position. It has not be certified to legally use to issue citations, but everyone may not know this or head this rule.

    3. Laser guns have a trigger that is pulled when the officer has a vehicle in his or her sight. See some of the video footage posted on this site.

    4. Today's instant on radar guns really do not need to warm up. When the officer presses the button, your speed will show anywhere from less than a second to a couple of seconds. A vehicle in front of you that is being targeted is the only way to get an early warning with instant on radar. Some cops prefer to target from the rear. The ones where I drive either hit you with instant on radar, laser, or pace you especially at night from behind because they can hide better and it is easier to track you down without doing a U-turn.

Sorry about the ticket. I too received my first and only ticket when I was hit with lidar from behind which luckily I got it changed to a non-pointable offense. I had the Blinder M20 on the front, but it obviously did not do me any good in this situation. It is much less common than targeting from the front but does happen. I put another M20 on the rear of the car along with an extremely thick coat of Veil and a Laser Sheild to give me some protection and warning about rear laser attacks.

thx JBIRD. I'm gonna talk to the lawer 2day, hopefully he can do the same for me (non-pointable offense). And then, I figured one more question--- LASERSHIELD, VEIL, BLINDER XTREME M40 WILL MAKE YOU INVISIBLE TO THE LASER GUN, but is there is a way to avoid instant on radar? :?:

    Default Lasered in Pa??

PA does not use laser at this time. You are really rolling the dice at 20 over any posted speed limit. You WILL eventually get caught. IMHO

That will help against laser. There are ways to defeat instant on radar. Do some searching.

I have to agree Suv's arent meant for speeding. Neither are semi's but thats a different topic.

Why would anyone speed in a suv dont they get 13-15mpg Highway? Going 85mph means what like 10mpg. I wish I could burn money like that.

    Orxan4ik,

    I believe Kapro is correct.

PA doesn't employ laser at this time.

What does your citation read with respect to the mechanism in which laser was used? Perhaps it was VASCAR?

Oftentimes, VASCAR is performed from the rear (overpass).

Didn't he say that his V1 read Laser from the rear? Thats pretty intersting that the V1 got a laser signal from the rear. When I was hit from the rear my X50 did nothing. I know the V1 is more sensative to laser but if hes in an suv I highly doubt it was actualy a laser gun that the V1 picked up. Heres some of the reasons.

The beam has to be picked up, a suv has a long amount of room from front to rear the beam would most certianly not make it from front to back.

Also check out the how to beat a ticket section, you might collect some good info for the future.

As far as speeding, I do it all the time, in a truck however, which is not really great either but neither is going over 100 on a motorcycle and I do that too. Just know your limts for one and for 2 know the area you are speeding in. If you know a city uses laser dont speed like a maniac through that city, use a speed of 19 mph and under over the limit. If you are certain the city does not have laser your chances are still risky but you have alittle more lean way. Just observe how your city uses their equpment. Note if they always leave their radar units on constant on or if they tend to use instant on. This should give you some advise if you have a lead foot like me.

Some other things that can help, your GPS is a great device to have, I also have one. Mark the stationary spots where the LEO's sit. This can aid in a percationary measure. If you come within 8/10 of a mile of a waypoint that the leo has been marked running from. Slow down in that area.

Also invest in a anti-laser device for the front and rear of your vehicle, the front is not enough anymore, we have seen it over and over protect yourself.
