Default An open offer to anyone doing a real detector teat

I want to see just how much better the Escort 8500X50 is over the 8500. I am thinking that Escort doesn't want the test done because it would show that the gap in performance is not as great as they are advertizing. I could be wrong. Who knows, it's happened before. If someone is doing real bonafied test of Bel.Escort.V1, I will personally fed EX my non X50 8500, if they throw it in the mix then ship it back to me within a week. I want to see just what the performance gap is. It has to be a legit test, though, like radartest or SML. Let me know!

In my opinion you are wrong as remember I have used both the first 8500 and the X50 and I can tell you they are not at all the same detector but I was like you and I was thinking was upgrade really worth the extra money and all I can say is yes its worth it.

me and my friend were running side by side

    Friend- 4runner mounted mid window(8500)

    Me- Lumina mounted low(8500X50)

    Traveling 80 MPH

I (X50) get a Ka alert and slow down... he(8500) continues driving and about 3 seconds later he brakes.

He(8500) calls me(x50) and he said he didnt get a warning, he was bummed he didnt think the X50 was that much better.

3 seconds at 80MPH is pretty big difference

On instant on radar there is a huge differance between the two as the first 8500 would not worn me until I was almost right on top of the cop and the X50 gives me well over a mile before I even start to see the cop car. You well get more false alarms with the X50 and the range is not the same as yes the X50 will false a little more Vs the first but still not as much as some others. There is no SWS on the X50 and there was SWS with the first 8500. The first 8500 did not come with a blue display.

As you can see they are not at all the same and trust me its worth every penny to upgrade to the X50 rev 5.

Its not worth the upgrade. You only gain alittle bit on ka. Your better off with a V1. Escort says the x50 is upgradable. But I doubt it. Buy something that you can upgrade.

I never said they were the same unit if you read the post. They use different antennas. What I want to quantify is the RANGE differences between the 2.

Its worth the upgrade if pop mode is an issue where you live? and if you want %50 better range and if you want better laser range and better instant on range. The ? asked was old 8500 Vs X50. Yes there is huge differences between the two in range and I know this because like I said I have used and tested both.

Newer is not necessarily better. I own a BEL 985 as a backup for my V1. The 985 is very similar to the 8500. They are both Belscorts. The 985 is pretty good, almost as good as V1 1.7 on Ka band, and just as good on K band. I decided to try a 995 to have the POP mode detection. I was very disappointed in the K band and Ka band range of the 995 compared to the 985. Where the 985 would alert within a second of the V1 (1.7) on Ka band, the 995 alerted 20 seconds later than the V1. I returned the 995 and kept the 985.

Much was accomplished at the SML tests in Texas radar shoot out 2005! Kindly give us time to update our site and gallery. The V1 modification proved its stealth capability.

    http://www.radarbusters.com/support/...pectre-rdd.asp

We will construct a page in due course on the Stalcar/Spectre rdd highlighting its problems encountered when used in the field from 1st hand knowledge and testing.

Beltronics has no new development to offer at this years shoot out in the desert! Who knows maybe the manufacturer of the Stalcar/Spectre may decide not to have there US agent present at the SML test! If not we would wonder why.

New technology implemented by ARDS has led to a Spectre/Stalcar immune wide band radar detector!

Number of AuSystem radar detectors are reported being detected by the Stalcar MK 3 RDD with ease at great range. These units are advertised as software programmable. Users of these units have been informed by Beltronics "Cannot be programmed to defeat Stalcar or Spectre! RX65 systems very slow to react to Ka instant on radar! Digital delay and False alarm confusion. NZ has high return rate of Bel systems to manufacturer! Most of these units are selling for US250-$350 ..........to be expected!
    And from radarone.com:

    BEL Escort 8500
The New X50 - 8500 offers similar performance to the BEL RX65 in a different housing. Overall performance of the X50 is unlike the old Escort 8500.
The X50 shares similar hardware and software of the BEL range of detectors, so its not a robust as the old model.

This now puts the Valentine 1/CENZ in a league of its own.
Beware of performance claims for the new X50-8500, based on tests that were carried out on earlier 8500.
The X50 is a different product made by a different company!!
