That doesn't make sense... Mounting or bad unit is the only thing I can think of but knowing you I would doubt mounting would be an issue. Have fun at the testing event, GL

I'm guessing mounting location too. I have it mounted low on the front of the F-150. It seems to do better on the highway when there is nothing blocking my view. In town when close to other vehicles the V1 and STi-R seem equal.

    Hi cat4,

I will bring all my tools with me so that we can check out your STi-R -- even inside its horn if necessary.

    Thanks for taking the time.
I will be doing quick trigger tests when I have some time. Unfortunately I don't have a STi-R to play with.

Uh how about not inside! I think it's fine I just think I have it mounted in a less than optimal location for city driving. But I am eager to test it out.

It may be too loo, in a truck like yours I personally would mount it up high as you can to get optimal performance. Though you have to consider you have the STI-R which at optimal performance will annoy you worse than having a parrot yapping 24/7 on your shoulder.

Maybe its just for K/X band so it doesn't become a nussance. Have you had any Ka encounters in the city and had same alert times?

No Ka encounters at all. Just a few K encounters. Most of what i am basing this off of is K band false alerts. On real threats it seems to do better than false alerts. I really think that most of this is because I am typically in stop and go traffic when I encounter these false alerts. The car in front of me is blocking the antenna is what I am thinking. Maybe we will find out tomorrow.

category4, I'd guess that your 9500ci being hotter on K band than your STi-R is just manufacturer's variance. MEM-TEK and I seem to have the same type of thing going on. My V1 is pretty close to my 9500ci on K band also, but I so rarely see K band, I couldn't care less. My 9500ci is still real good on K band.

It could be but mine varies so much I think it's just where it's mounted. On the highway when I have open road in front of me it's no contest the STi-R beats the V1, but not like the ci does. In traffic it's a tossup, could go either way.

Cat are you running the stiR in highway mode both on the highway and the city?
