Default Bel Vector LR (970) Performance

Hey, I own this detector and have noticed that KA sensitivity is pretty crappy to say the least. Anyone agree or disagree with this? K and X band are great, I pick cops up at least 20 seconds away. How does this detector compare to an X50 or RX65? :?: Think it's worth the upgrade? Suggestions?

Oh yeah I live in Northern NJ and travel to VA alot, so X band detection is a MAJOR factor!

I used to have a 975R and I really liked it. The V1 was a major upgrade, though. Ka was ok on the Bel sometimes, other times it was downright pathetic. Now that I've learned a bit I think that it just had trouble with the low-power radar. The Valentine is much more consistent, which I think is due to a vastly different filtering method. From what I hear the x50 and the RX65 are also excellent, as is the bel995.

There are also ways to "stealthify" a V1. If you get the remote display and remote audio adapter you can start to get creative.

Beeej259 take a look at the little (hand tuning) card Bell includes with your detector and give me the specs tests for your detector in each band...

I don't think the manufacturers normally publish this info. There was some talk about it in this thread though:

So maybe BiGeAsYgUy has some info on this...

I am not sure of the performance of the Bel 970 or how close it is to the Bel 980 but this is the Bel 980 in the 2000 SML test:

My "hand=tuning card" reads 110 db/cm ka/k which I believe is pretty darn good...It reads a whopping 115 on x-band which means that in New Jersey you could detect every radar cop in the state!!!
