    Default Whistler Pro Units

Wondering if any forum members have used the Pro58 or the Pro73. Had been kind of curious as to how these units stack up against the Cobra 9700 and others in the price range. How does the Pro73 compare to others in the way of falsing when POP is enabled? Much better? Much worse?

Also, is it true with the Pro73 as it is with the 58 that there is no distinct indication of POP vs. Instant-on?

I am not sure how much the whistler falses, but theres no way its worse then the Cobra. When I had my cobra, it was a joke- it went off ALL the time, I ended up disabling it all together.

    Go here:

    Read this entire test:

I am not sure if it has a distinct POP indicator or not but if it doesn't I wouldn't worry because the Valentine One shows POP as instant on radar which should get you to slow down just as well.

You can get a Whistler Pro 73 for less than $150

You can get the Escort 8500 X50 for $250-$300+ dollars depending on red or blue lights and warranty or no warranty.

Valentine One can be purchased for a little over $400 brand new or something like $358 if you purchase a returned unit with full one year warranty.

I have heard that the Escort 8500 X50 falses alot with POP enabled and the Valentine One falses the least on POP if you get the V1.8 with POP2 detection.

I have never used the Whistler Pro 73 so I only know what I have read or heard about its capabilities. I considered buying one when I didn't have enough cash on hand but the V1 with its second aantenna and arrows has won me over since 1997.

I dont get how that Whistler Pro 73 can detect instant on at the 2 mile cone, but yet it cannot detect constant on at 2 miles

Look at the X50, it can detect instant on X and Ka at 2.5 miles but it can only detect Ka constant on and cannot detect X constant on.

Look at the Attowave also, it can detect constant on X and K at the 2.5 mile cone but it can only detect instant on X and Ka for some reason.

There are alot of strange things that don't make sense about this test. How is it that the Valentine One wins in X and K detection by 11+miles but it cannot pick up radar at the 2.5 mile cone but the X50 can even though it isn't as sensitive as the V1 according to long range testing. How can the X50 be so good at the 2.5 mile cone but the RX65 which wins alot of tests cannot pick up any radar at 2.5 miles just like the V1. That seems strange considering they are the same detector and made by the same people.

    Just my 2 cents

Maybe the instant on uses a little bit more power then the constant ons...

I'd read the tests on speedzones and Roy's pages, in those regards tested it looks good there, just wondering about the POP of it mainly. I wouldn't have anything without a separate POP alert, too many falses on POP to slow every time it goes off.
