Some of you will say nothing new will be heard from this thread, maybe you are right.
I did a few tests today on the Redline with laser, Ka band and K band. I also mounted it at 2 different locations on the windshield.
LASER (Atlanta laser with 10x scope on tripod): Needless to say that a RD against laser is totally useless. When the RL was mounted above the rear view mirror I got not hits what so ever. I decided to mount it low on the windshield and got a significant difference, I went from 0% detection to about 50% to 75% detection on laser hits. I also found that if the laser is on the top of a hill shooting down on you, you have much more chances of getting an alert.
KA BAND (Stalker): C/O facing head to head is simply a piece of cake for the RL, I bascily ran out of road. All we had is 4.5 miles straight and we needed much more. There was no hesitation from the RL what so ever.
I/O was ok I guess but could have been better. I/O with the police car in front of you is a disaster, I got maybe 25% of the hits if that, only when hitting highly reflective big vehicle. I/O with the police car behind you works awesome extremely close to 100% detection. Head to head I/O was interesting: with the RL mounted above the rear view mirror I got less than 50% hits but with the RL mounted low center, it got up to almost 100%
K BAND: I only tried it for range and obviously the 4.5 miles stretch was not long enough
In conclusion, everything here is common sense and nothing is really new for you guys. What surprised me the most is the fact that RL performed better low on the windshield that high up for radar detection and obviously laser. Please note that Atlanta laser's aiming point is much more precise that Pro Laser 3 and will set off your RD much less
