Toronto, Ontario.

I've run with no plate for many, many years and only been ticketed once ($110!) but now that i've installed the STI-r I really needed to "hide" it or at least offer up a distraction away from the little black box in my grill.

Still nothing definitive, but this is akin to what you'd reported, Aoshi.

Laser-Sheild testing: (Good results)

I can tell you for sure that the Laser Shield reduces the IR reflectivity of the plate for sure....

When I look through my Sony handycam in night shot mode my back licence plate is extremely bright. But when I look at the front of my car the the front plate(which has a laser shield) is extremely dull except for the outer edge of the plate that isn't covered by the Laser shield.

Laser Shield isn't goig to save you tickets alone BUT if will certainly cut down your plates reflectivity

I keep it real.

Anyone with a quality laser jammer can Jam To Gun (JTG) these days but only a few choosen stealth people can Jam From the Gun (JFG). Here is the list of people so stealth that they Jam From Gun: alpinestars_2002795, TSi-WRX, djrams80, RacerX, Laser-InterceptorUSA, BLINDER-GUY, category4, crazyVOLVOrob.

Happya$$ may think he is stealth but until he can Jam From Gun, and Stealthjamal can't get a punchthrough on the front of his Civic which have 9 jammers he is far from stealth

Thanks for the link TSi+WRX. Pretty much the exact same test I did, except I used my actual LP for the reflection. Nice to see others are reproducing the same results.

I'm glad people are starting to show interest in really testing these things! I can't wait for some real numbers from the many experienced members here with the proper equipment!

BTW - Thanks for the info crazyVOLVOrob, I was actually thinking about doing that same test with my Camera but you just saved me the time! :P

Yeah, that thread proves the shield definately has a positive effect. That camera is way better than any other shots i've seen so far!

Post Re: Meaningful Laser Shield tests?

I have put this to the test numours times. The Laser sheild yes does, somewhat reduce the signature. Although is not worth the 35 to 20 dollars, nor the shipping. Unfortunetly, I have yet to see it affect my lidar's at any range sufficently enough to prove to me, that it was enough gain to even put it on the satty of death. I have tested this with a Stalker Lidar, and a ProLaser I, and a ProLaser II. Each gun still got Instant punch through's. When I say it did reduce somewhat i'm talking tenths of seconds. Not even full seconds which mean anything. Infact I had at one time three of these ontrack plate covers. They did nothing to protect me really. I ended up leaving one on an ex's vehicle, and one somewhere in her collection of things, as they where useless. I have one laying around in the closet just to laugh at, of yet another countermeasure that somebody devleoped to nab $, and not truely protect the motoring public as disclosed.

I'll never forget the first time I tested mine on my ex wife's caviler. I wanted it to affect my ProLaserII so badly. Yet nothing? I was puzzled? I thought, "Maybe i put it on backwards, and i'm reflecting instead of absorbing?" I stoped her after that run, and flipped the plate cover over with a quick on, off of the plate screws. I then told her make a decent run down third street honey. She said, "go way out you mean this time?" I said, "Ya, go past me and go way out to well over 1,000ft, I wana see if maybe it will affect it more at a distance, do to the weaker beam." She then replied, "Ok, gotcha, hoped in and took off in the cavy down north third street." I pulled up my ProLaserII using my Amry training i received for targeting useing a paralex to sight her in, breathing properly, i gave her a good shot of lidar. To my suprise Instant Punchthrough yet again? I made her make three more runs just the same as the first. All ended in disappointment that I had just wasted all that hard earned cash, that could have went for other things.

In the end, from my test. I learned that not even an ex Amry Infantrymen was sabatoged by this type of countermeasure. That even with all of my expertise as a shooter, scoring expert in the army up to 300 meters which equates to just roughly over 1,500ft or about 500 Yards, to score expert in the army I was required to make 36 out of 40 shots, all of which went from 50 to the 300 meter line with some at 100 meters, some at 150, 175, 200, 250, 300. It didn't pose any harm to me when trying to just specifically target her plate. Which upset me. Although I was glad to know the truth before I found out the hard way. As we used to say in the Army, "I gained situational awarness from seeing it fail." By learning what not to depend on, and what to depend on.

This all comes from a guy, that had three Lidar guns on his car at once at my last invite last year and my car JTG'd them. One ultralyte LRB, one ProLaser II, and another ProLaserII all at the same time, yet nothing, so i know what i'm talking about.

Those covers are worthless. Yet, the superprotector photoprotector plate is effective, to some cameras. I'd say only maybe 50 percent. Redflex has posed a problem to those even now, by running full time video backup and when you get straight enough, they can read your plate anyhow, and BAM you got a ticket anyway, so not even those are a failsafe anymore. Not to mention in some area's they are now getting so greedy they have banned plate covers, due to loss of revenue, and you can be fined for useing them.

This doesn't count for the laser shield though, the loss of revenue part. As they do nothing to save you. You'll simply get beaned anyway. This doesn't mean if the cover is illegal they won't still ticket you. Don't take what I said above wrong read carefully.

Another problem with your laser pointer test? Your using one diode. A laser/lidar speed gun uses 3 most often. I know my ProII does, and so does my Stalker Lidar. Hence it's more powerfull than your laser pointer from a power output/wattage standpoint. It can put out alot more light. Meaning a puny cover is going to be a lot less apt to stop it. Not only that but the wavelength of light is completely different. It's like comparing apples to oranges. I'm sure you know you can't even set off your RD with that laser pointer? Why? It's not the right WaveLength or IR light. Meaning they are two totally seperate lasers. One is 904-905~ Nm. The other is probably around 650-680Nm~. Totally different ballgame. Not to mention one is much more powerfull than the other, and has more Waves, I.E. More of a chance to get a Bounce back to the RX~ I.E. Receiver lens of the lidar gun. Not to mention your laser pointer doesn't work by IR pulses. A lidar gun uses hundreds of pulses per second to gage distance, then from that derive speed. Which in esscence you would think then, if the gun cannot distiguish distance, then it cannot determine speed, which is technically correct, this is how jammers function. Also how this plate cover submit's their rash claims of functioning. Although, I have yet to see this plate keep me from assertaining a distance reading, at any range the gun will support.

My second thought was this upon inspection of such countermeasure after the fact. I tryed myself to figure out how they proclaimed such a device could possibly be effective? As if it was, would a plain jane plate cover refract the Light? No! Neither do your Darkly red colored tail lamps, infact they are a prime target! I then began to look deeply at the cover, i noticed little reflective peices of imbeded plastic they had mixed the batch of plastic with. I then began to think? Is this their attempt to alter the path of the beam? I then thought, that's the only way i'm seeing they could think it would work, or harm it at all. Other than it's dull shaded nature. Which doesn't really affect it much, as I stated earlier, if at all. Yet, I stood staring at the glinty shiny peices of plastic embeded and thought? Wouldn't that "Increase" the reflectivity of this device? As I saw them reflecting the daylight as if it was a watch in the sun. I simply though, "WOW." I guess I see why that was a faliure. What would work you ask? A seradid plate cover. No flat edge at all, on the outside so as to deflect the Light beam. This would work effectively to hamper a plate reading. Although as soon as he came off the plate if you neglected to place headlamp covers, and a properly mounted jammer you'd still be screwed.

My final best peice of advice I can give you is this.

If it's a frontal plate your concerned about, contact CR8APLT or CR8APLATE it's spelt one of those two ways, and order yourself a fake, none reflective duplicate plate of your home state tag it, and you'll actually gain leaps and bounds. Good luck on your anti-Lidar plate fight. My suggestion is always, if you don't have to run a front plate in your state, your a bonehead to run one; all your doing is giving yourself away.
