Well, rear performance is definitely disappointing - not that I was expecting much, but I was hoping, at least, that it'd be better than the ZR3.....
As for the front, I don't like that one bit. And it's certainly NOT install fault. That's an awesome installation that combines both stealth (speaking of, I *believe* that on the first of the listed vids, the rear plate number is visible in the video) and great placement for protection.
VEIL time.

Thanks so much, guys!

Maybe I should buy a couple of old Sunpak IR flash units off of fleebay. The ones I am thinking of would illuminate a 65 degree angle scene with IR up to 100 feet for ISO 100 IR film. I bet those things would fry a laser gun!

Time the flight window right, and I'd bet that a brute-force jammer of that type would totally rock!!!! 8) <- shades required!
yeah it is called the LE10/Target 850

Back in the 1980s I worked for a camera store. We special ordered one of those really powerful Sunpak IR flashes for a customer. You could easily feel the heat if you held your arm up about a foot away from the flash gun. And, think about it...its not really a jammer since it does not output any type of continuously modulated IR frequency to counter a laser gun. It just puts out one intense IR blast which lasts for 1/1000 of a second and would be thousands of times more powerful than any type of jammer. Now, just imagine if I focused the flash output to a narrow +/- 30 degrees horizontal and +/- 5 degrees vertical. Amazingly, Sunpak used to sell a snap-on telephoto flash kit which would do just that.
Hmm.....

Back in the '80s. I was in grade-school, trying my best to look like a Chinese version of Don Johnson. Epic fail! ops:
That's funny! But seriously everyone...
Wouldn't be possible for me to use a simple 1:1 gain op-amp circuit to drive some additional LEDs which I could mount inside my rear tail light assemblies? All I would need to do is take the signals being sent to the license plate LEDs in order to drive the op-amp circuit and then drive identical IR LEDs mounted inside my tail light assemblies. Fortunately, on my car, the tail light assemblies literally pop off after removing a pair of screws. So this mod would be dirt simple for me to implement.

I'm not sure if you're the one who proposed it a while back, but I do seem to remember someone here putting forward this idea.
One thing to make sure, though, would be to insure "IR-transparency" of the tail-light's "overlens" assembly.
If you can drive IR-LEDs at the correct pulse-rate, that certainly should solve the output problem......but remember, if it's the tail-lights that are being targeted, your receiver is still at the rear plate - you'll want to also extend receptive area to cover the tail-lights, too.
