Dont believe it Cliff. I wish she was my wife. She's hot though.

Elvato, Thanks for uploading the video of my M5. I'm happy with the results.

Great stuff, guys! Thanks!

OK, what's the deal with actually being able to see the PASS responding to the TruSpeed, through the HUD? Was that because of the videocamera used (i.e. artifact)? can that actually be visualized through the TruSpeed's HUD?

And I read what you've said here:

Most of these, though, I was using the tripod to steady the Tru Speed. Freehand, it was harder to get PT, even that was steadier than holding a camera and shooting at the same time.

Also, I was able to get PT on Z1's Scion's headlights without setting off the ZR4.

I'll try to find the videos of each instance, but I can't say if all of the instances will be on tape.
- but so far, it really does seem that the ZR4 might "do OK," at least, against the TruSpeed.

I think that it'd do well, real-world, and that, as Roy's own preview was, IIRC, without tripod assist, that he did indeed truthfully convey what he observed.

---

gadgetman's vids...

The 7.04's performance against the TruSpeed (i.e. non-TruSpeed enabled), I'm really impressed. Considering that a center-mass shot is most likely, and even then, the headlight PT occurred at mid-low distances. That's not bad at all.

Given that I'm most likely to see TruSpeed usage on-highway, and Ohio State Patrol usually engages at around 700-800 ft., I think that's not too bad, at all, particularly if one's not totally blitzing along, at true hyper-legal speeds.

It seems that, again, Cliff, Ivan, and the rest of the LI team have demonstrated their trustworthiness, in saying to us that the 7.04 boxes will do just fine, using the generic "Unknown Gun" algorithm, and will give us plenty of time to slow down. [ And furthermore, given this data, I think it is plenty clear that Roy, in voicing that he did not know the origin nor condition of the LI unit that was used in his TruSpeed preview, was probably trying to hint that that particular LI unit may not have been working properly. ]

Hopefully, Cliff will have the 7.05 box on-line as an upgrade, before my locals get the TruSpeed.

As for that 100ft. rear PT.

Don't worry about it at all, gadgetman. Remember, you're going to be passing such traps at-speed, that particular kind of setup, at the very beginning of the test, simply won't present, real-world.

In terms of what happened, I really think that the LU was either simply over-powered from such close range, or, alternatively, that close, the LIDAR effectively latched on to the rear quarter-panel, causing the PT. I don't think that *any* jammer could have accounted for that.

----

Overall:

I can't remember - CFL Guys, did y'all test a LPP ?

The fact that the PASS and the AL G8 both did so poorly versus the TruSpeed really has me worried, regarding the LPP's capability to handle this unit....

Default Whoa Hold up!

Elvato,

On my M5, do you know which version I was running? My first run was using the v7.0.4. Remember when Cliff went home to get the v7.0.5? So, in the last segments of my video, I believe those were the v7.0.5 (TruSpeed Enabled).

Correct me if I'm wrong.

When I first got to the testing site, you guy shot me with the TruSpeed and you didnt get my speed therefore, the generic algorythem (SP) does offer some protection.

We still are not sure why the ZR4 was less than consistent. (ELVATO did get better at shooting) I noticed that its performance dropped off after repeated runs and improved when it had been left alone for a bit.
It got so bad after a number of back-to-back runs, I feared I had broken my ZR4. It was like I didn't even have the jammer on.

Then, after a short break, the performance was only slightly worse than the first (very good) runs.

I suspect that the microprocessor(s) were getting hot from all the repeated shots, but I don't know.

Also with one of the guns, ELVATO was able to hit my headlights without even setting off the jammer!

It was only when I was close to the gun, but he was able to pull it off.

^ I agree, I think that heat might truly be a part of the issue.

I am not familiar enough with IR-LEDs to know if they generate appreciable heat, but I know enough about high-performance visible-light LEDs to know that heat-sinking is a big concern.

Indeed, maybe the processors got too heated, during the repeated (and prolonged) runs.

I once speculated that this might have been an issue with the LPP/Laser Atlanta performance inconsistencies (as it's known that laser-diodes, such as in the LE-10 "brute force" application, becomes heat-sensitive - and as it is also known that radiant heat can drastically negatively impact the LPP's performance), but the testing conditions and "rest periods" both proved inconsistent.

It looks like with y'all's test of the ZR4, a more consistent pattern of performance degradation (and then recovery) was established?

A couple of notes, gadget's LI 7.04 performance is impressive, a punch through on the head light at 300 something feet is pretty darn good IMHO, plus he does not have a fancy mounting like in the kidney grills.

As for the LI truspeed 7.05 on the explorer, still impressive considering the size of the front, but still slight PT on the headlight at 200 something feet, so that gives me the impression that the 7.05 still needs a slight tune to be perfect.

I think in the real world and the way Elvato shot that gun (no offense bud) I think the LI 7.04 would offer real world protection.

As for the Zr4's random performance against the truspeed, CM is very good, as noted performance was varied, I think as others said heating issues internally within the unit since I don't think it was designed to take constant hits, in the real world you will not ge that kind of use at one time. As for random no alerts, that might have to due with the truspeeds low power.

Guys a quick note does the truspeed unit have a low battery indicator, the reason I am asking is if the batteries are low I wonder if the truspeed works as well, or does it still perform?

Neither Ivan nor I were satisfied at all with the performance of the 7.05 at CFL#6! To that end, Ivan and I have agreed that I will tomorrow, be FedEx shipping the TruSpeed to Team LI-Croatia so that we can further fine tune the TruSpeed Algo and make the LI provide TruSpeed JTFG performance!

Glad to see the gun is heading east. Ivan & Dexter will be able to put the smack down on it, in no time.

Cliff I hate to say this, but aren't you getting current 7.05, units in as we speak?

Plus, are the truspeed control boxs in production now and being shipped to the US, so will the newest truspeed box be a 7.06?
