My wife made a good observation this weekend, I was stuck behind a person in the left lane on US 31 which the speed limit is 60 mph, it's a four lane highway in the middle of nowhere between South Bend and Indianapolis. One of the biggest speed traps in the state in my opinion. And the car I was stuck behind was doing a brisk 63 passing a car doing 62.9 so needless to say it took some time for them to get around the slow moving traffic and back in the right hand lane. While I was stuck behind the guy my wife said could you imagine how long it would take if we drove the speed limit the whole way. It really got me thinking how much of my life I have saved by speeding, I bet on that trip alone I saved at least 40 minutes by going 75-80.
I found a article that talked about this, but speeding was not beneficial for most people because the chances of getting caught was to high so you would actually lose time and money according to their calculations. I think our chances with running countermeasures are much lower and we would be able to save time and money.
I wish I knew how much time I have saved my life by my 12 years of speeding, I bet it is at least in the months.
