Executive summary: two people died when a semi changed lanes into the side of their car, causing it to spin out on the freeway.
Never "ease past" another vehicle, especially a semi. When you are passing, your "space cushion" is almost ZERO. The more time you spend next to another vehicle, the better the chances that the other guy will blow a tire, or swerve to avoid hitting an animal, or just plain do something dumb and merge right into your car. After entering I-65 heading north at Exit 22, they were in the right lane with a tractor trailer in the middle lane. About MM 24 they were easing past the tractor trailer and still in the right lane which they had been since they got on I-65. The truck decided to move to the right lane. The truck clipped the left front of the Corvette and the Corvette started spinning around and I think flipped and then hit guardrails. The car was just demolished.
Think about these folks next time you're "parked" next to a semi on the freeway, practically matching its speed. And then put your foot in it.
