I used to drive this road every day in the summer, in one of the smallest cars available in the 1995 model year.Originally Posted by Police say inattentive driving may be to blame in CV crash
Someone who was paying attention would have seen an SUV stopped in front of them and a car coming the opposite direction, assumed the SUV was waiting to make a turn, and stopped behind it or snuck by on the right.
Someone who's wasn't paying attention, as we see here, wouldn't notice the SUV until it's too late, then try their luck in oncoming traffic since they weren't even aware anything is there.
It's frustrating that so many accidents happen and are exacerbated by people just failing to look where they're going. They're surprised by things they could easily see and then try stupid maneuvers to avoid the crash that just make it twice as bad.
I believe all the self-braking and warning bullcrap in new cars should be replaced by a simple device that beeps whenever the car is at speed and the driver looks away from the windshield for more than 2 seconds.
