Question Flagrant Speeding - Why Do You Do It?

I mean habitual speeding more than 10 mph over any posted speed for both secondary and highway roads. It makes no sense to me why so many people do it so perhaps you that do can enlighten me?

If you're not going at least 10 over the PSL here on NJ highways, you're blocking traffic!

If you are not going over 10mph the PSL then you might as well just go the PSL.

Try that in Oklahoma. In my county, including OHP you can get a ticket for 3 over. Interstate depends on traffic and their mood. AND, never think we are the old redneck state when it comes to our OHP. THEY are very good, and selective. I run the V1 and the old Sti-R and I am still very careful.

Seven years ago I drove out to NM from MA on several interstates and never did over 65. 2 years ago I drove back the same route and again never did over 65. On the way out I drove from 5AM to 12 midnight each day and on the way back made the trip on the same schedule. Never had anyone tailgate or blow horns at me going this slow - they just went around me with no problems. Some cars and 18 wheelers were doing up to 75 but they wern't any problem going by me. So from these two trips, driving this "slow" was never a problem, unlike some claims I read on this and other forum sites.

I gave up that kind of speeding ages ago. It takes far too much effort to do and keep getting away with it. I use my detectors now to be aware of where the traps are. Sometimes one can get a ticket and not be speeding much whatsoever in these.

If everyone drove sensibly, we wouldn't need speed limit signs, lane markings, stop signs, traffic lights, cops....but I guess it's because of people like you that we do...if you are serious about your "fun" comment.

Yes it's strange on NJ highways 80 miles an hour seems slow. At that speed I am still being passed by 1997 ford fiestas and other cars. Funny thing is this...None have any type of radar detectors at all, and they driving balls to the wall.

This is amazing. Never knew there were so many people driving like this. I drive a full size 4 door 1985 Mercury and though it's "built like a tank", I don't feel safe driving it over 70 mph on interstates. I can't believe so many people are driving at the speeds they do in "modern" cars that look like they would fold up hitting anything at 40. The industry say these new cars are safe but at these speeds (70+)? Not me, I'd rather walk than be "caught dead" in one of these death traps. For years, that's why I drive a "tank" - if I do get in a wreck, my chances of survival are much greater than those in these new cars.

From what Iv'e seen so far, there is no logical reason for such behavior and that scares me. I guess common sense has evolved out of us humans in such a short time
