    Default Tinted windows and pacing

I want to get my windows tinted but I have a concern about pacing.
How many of you guys have tinted windows and how has it affected pacing prevention?
Does anyone use a backup camera/rearview mirror camera to combat this?

I dont know if I understand your question completely but during the day I have no problem seeing out the rear window as far as on a non tinted car. So during the day you feel like you could easily spot an approaching cop. How about an undercover crown vic?

At night its hard enough to tell if an approaching car is a cop even without tinted windows so I feel like any tint would kill that ability entirely.

I don't have any tint on my windows. Which makes it very easy to see LEO vehicals at night. Even with window tint I would take the time to make sure whether or not the vehical behind or infront of me is an actuall LEO.
I use to speed up if there was a car following me. Not anymore. One night I was heading back home and I was on this backroad with headlights coming up on me very quickly. If he didn't turn on his lights when he did I would have sped up to get away from this car. Also would have been a huge mistake. He pulled me over for rolling a stop sign which I only got a warning. But now I make 100% sure that the car behind and in front is a LEO.

I can tell you right now it will make a HUGE difference.

I recently got my Mustang windows tinted at 15%. I rolled around without tint for 5 years in it, and finally decided it was time to tint them.

2 weeks after getting tint, I got paced in downtown atlanta @ 7:30pm on a friday night. I was going with the flow of 5 lane interstate traffic. 75 to 80 in a 55, he claimed. He wrote it for 65. Nice guy.

I've shared this story before, and others have agreed that it hurts. I can tell you, it REALLY hurts. I have llumar film, which is supposed to be the best of the "mid grade performers"

The only top end tint is called "Huper Optik." You can read all about it at "tintdude.com" it's window tint forums, much like these are for RD's.

I've mentioned Huper Optik here before and a member posted and said it was great at night, almost as if he had no tint. I can't say whether or not this is true, but i can tell you I have a #$@#$ of a time trying not to get paced.

What used to be REALLY easy is now REALLY, REALLY hard. I pretty much have to count cars as i pass so i can know how many to expect in the rearview. It's a much more annoying and difficult game than it sounds.

Anything that I'm not steadily pulling away from is pretty much a threat, unless I'm positive I can identify the headlights.

Some headlights are more easily id'able (such as the crown vic ambers) but good luck with chargers. lolololololol.
    Before tint, it was nothing.

I will never not use Huper Optik again.

I have formula one tint, it's 15%, but it measures at about 11%. During the day, no problems. At night, yes, it is more difficult than without tint, obviously. but as long as you pay attention to the headlights, you can tell.

It's obviously going to be harder to see at night. Sometimes i even have to roll down my window to reverse out of a long driveway cause i can't see shiz.

If you're going to go 35%, you should be fine at night. VA law is 50% front, 35% back anyway, i had 35% all around and was never bothered. Now i have the 11% all around, and still have not been bothered by anyone. I pass LEOs all the time.

It just depends how dark you want. i LOVE the privacy and the heat rejection.. but it really is a PITA at night trying to reverse. If i could do it again i'd go with 20% or so.

how dark do you want it?

I don't like how it looks to have a different % on the front vs the back (50%/35%) so I'm debating between 35% all around or 20% all around. I think 20% would look better, but 35% all around has less harassment potential and would probably give me a better chance of distinguishing headlights. (my eyes are kinda bad as it is) And since 20/35% all around would be illegal anyway, might as well do 70% on the windshield.
Your tint does look sick btw but I definitely can't go that dark.

I'm worried about the harassment part because theres a cop in my neighborhood that basically has it out for my family. I think I told you about how he put my cousin in handcuffs facedown in a ditch when he was ~10yrs old for playing ding dong ditch. He constantly looks for reasons to pull him over and his accusations have gone as far as "why is your car black when your registration says its gray." (That was at night btw I was in the passenger seat and had to do everything in my power to keep from laughing) He hasn't pulled me over or given me crap for anything yet, but I'm worried the tint would give him an excuse. The whole neighborhood hates him and we've tried to get him fired multiple times.

Maybe I should just wait until I move out of the house lol I wish there was a fitted screen/tint that you could just put up when you parked to block view entirely.

Don't tint your windshield. It will fail inspection. They can tell too. It's diff than window tinting.

Text me if you still have my number

I got 30%. I don't have any problem spotting the cops during the day. Nighttime is obviously a little harder. Usually I am switching lanes though so when I pass people I always am looking to see and lights on the dashboard and what not. If someone if following me, it's easy for me to catch them.
