Band from antenna?
Can you tell what band police are running by looking at the antenna on the dash? See:

Re: Band from antenna?
Hmm, I'm pretty sure the LEO on the left is running a K Band MPH unit. As for the one on the right, he could be running either an older Stalker unit (Ka 34.7) or a Decatur unit (Ka 35.5).

Re: Band from antenna?
I think that if you actually are looking at the antenna and standing beside the LEO's car in a parking lot or something there is usually a sticker on the antenna.

+1 on what Snoopy said. The easiest one for NJ is if it's bigger than the one on the left it's X band, it will usually say MPH on the side

Re: Band from antenna?
Are Ka band antennas usually smaller? And I have read that some units can come with a Ka or a K band antenna. Is there a difference in the main unit, and the antenna itself does all of the math that would differ between them, or is the base unit itself different?

antennas come in different sizes not all ka are small.some units can come with ka and k band Ive seen it done its rare.the antenna collects the info and then sends to main unit.
