Question Vascar Plus II User manual needed. Also power cable. Can someone please help!

Vascar Plus II power cable needed, can someone please help with the location of this. Also need a user manual. Can anyone even help me find perhaps a PDF file for this device online. A power cable is of course the most important. Thank you in advance for any foresight into this matter.

I'll take a look through my files, I might have a PDF version of a VASCAR manual. I cannot guarantee that it'll be specifically VASCAR Plus II, especially since we have exclusively VASCAR Plus III and IIIc models anymore...the VASCAR Plus II is getting a little bit old.

Power cables (and other cables, such as the one to hook up to your odometer) can be found at different places online, but they aren't as easy to find as would radar gun equipment due to the limited market. Also, you'll probably be paying top dollar for the wiring.

If you do not specifically NEED to use the VASCAR unit, and you're merely looking to use a timing device, check out Robic stopwatches. You'll end up saving a lot of time and money in the long run, especially since you can grab a brand new stopwatch for around $50 and it'll let you do almost everything that the VASCAR unit will. The only main differences are that a VASCAR unit can time two cars at the same time and can use your car's odometer to time a vehicle you're following...Robic requires that you know the specific distance that you're timing a vehicle over.
I tell things how they are from my own opinion.

Yeah, the Vascar Plus original and the Plus II have different power out plugs. I beleive it has to be the 15 pin serial type connector on the back though not sure? There is a 9 pin serial type connector on the back to. Now I know from building computers that serial cables do carry power. Some of them anyhow. Though looking at wiring diagrams/schematics of a 15 pin, and a 9 pin serial cable connector the 15 pin is the only that carries the 12v power needed to power the vascar plus II. I am begining to wonder if I could not just buy a 15 pin serial cable, then strip back the wire find the hot lead, and negative ground wire, then perhaps retrofit some sort of 12v cigarette lighter adapter plug to it. Perhaps this would work? Anyone else agree? Though, as I said I believe the 9 pin is just a RS232 port for serial connection to a computer for a photo Vascar situation as I know they did add that with the Vascar Plus II units. Curious minds inquire? Which is the power connection. I am betting money the 15 pin as the 9 pin only has a negative ground and from the wiring schematics looks to be merely for data sending only. Thank you in advance. User manuals are cool regardless send em on over .

Question Re: Vascar Plus II User manual needed. Also power cable. Can someone please help!

Well found out that the 15 pin serial would power it up, though only one problem it keeps flipping 1's, then 2's, then 3's then 4's, and so on till it hit's 9's then back to 0-9. I am begining to think that the 9 pin serial cable is the power cable? Though I am confused how this could be considering the 9 pin serial schematics I see all over google do not show 9 pin serial cables as having a 12v power lead.

One confused enthusist? Already tried to buy a 15 pin serial and found the wires to make it work/spliced one end to 12v cig plug worked and powered. Though just cycled through numbers. Is this perhaps a link message for Serial to 232 interface to a PC i wonder? Perhaps as the Navalert shows a linking indicator on the display I am assuming this means the same thing with no user manual for the specific device, and my knowledge of other electronics of this nature.

The other problems? The strands in standard serial cables are far too thin. This is going to require a nice sexy solder job to even keep the contacts solid on the 12v end. Sorry guy's 239 dollars is a tad high for a cable gotta fix up something..??

Perhaps a 9 pin would fix the 0-9 number issue. Though, I am going to have to at some point invest in a solder kit. Man I am feeling itchy to use this bad boy dang.. Grrr. I can't wait.. I am tempted to get the 200 dollar cable..! There has to be somewhere cheaper..?
