is it me or....
i will be driving along no alerts no falses in the area.....then my detector will alert at 3 bars right off the bat..k band or ka. what i wonder is why it just all of a sudden detects it at a close range as compared to just a single bar alert......then 2......then 3....etc... it just starts at 3.then goes to full as i pass the cop. and i was wondering if this happens with anyone else... its not they switch signals its the VERY short alert rrange instead of a weak signal far away.....it FIRST beeps at 3-4 bars then i pass the officer not even 1/4 after that....
Re: is it me or....
I'm not really sure I understand what you're talking about. Could you try to be a bit clearer?
But from my guess, are you currently in the presence of say an X band however strong? For me, if I'm getting an X alert and then approach a K alert while I'm already being alerted for the X, even though it may be a weak K alert, it'll give me strong urgency tones for the K for the first second or so before leveling off. I think this was made by design to make the driver completely aware of a new more serious threat.
way to edit your post and make me look like an idiot.
but it sounds like maybe you were coming around a hill or something. radar won't curve around that well. or if a cop is shooting not completely straight. you'll hit a zone where he's hitting really well. it still gives you enough time to react, even though it's not starting from a single weak signal. it's just a cop who knows how to do it well maybe.
Assuming no technical issues with your X50 or metalic window tint on your windows, here are my thoughts;
As Ziddey said, it could be the terrain or heavy traffic.
Also, It could be mobile-instant-on radar.
Another scenario would be perhaps the officer's radar anttena was not originally facing your RD's antenna (example, officer was originally perpendicular to your position then turned heading toward you).
Just some ideas
I've never had any issues with my previous 8500's or my current X50's.
