the X50 has 360 degree laser detection.
But lets look at the facts...
By the time you get hit with that initial beam of light its too late, you know only have a one in a million chance that it aint making it back

YOUR ONLY DEFENCE AGAINST LASER IS A ZR3
Yes, I know that the X50 has laser detection, but as you said, it is usually too late once you get it unless maybe you have VEIL. The V1 outperforms the X50 in laser. Believe me, I researched all of this on their websites and reading this forum. I think I know what I'm talking about. PS. I know the facts.

Do you own a SC G60 corrado?
I used to. It was a '91. Making it even rarer was the automatic it had. Which is the main reason I sold it. I now own a '98 Jetta GLX with the VR6 and 5 speed. However, I'm looking for an LT1 powered Trans Am or Camaro, from '95-'97. The LS1 powered ones that are 98's-02's are nice too, but they're pretty pricey. I still use this ID because it's my ID on other forums and it just keeps it more simple.

good choice with the X50 man it'll serve you well. All the V1 is is over priced... yes laser detection is beter w/ V1... but radar filtering is better on X50, the display is easier to read, and you can choose to use POP mode when you want... I believe the V1 has POP mode on at all times (V1 people: forgive me If i'm wrong)

Well, my radar came in today, which was pretty quick considering they shipped it on Friday. Anyways, I really love it so far! I drove around town and the neighboring towns just to test it out (as if gas wasn't enough money. ) Anyhow, I was really hoping I'd get hit with laser just to test it out while I was going the speed limit. I got hit with mostly K and Ka and some X, which I think was from the building alarms and the automatic door openers. I had it in city mostly in the traffic conjested areas and automatic in the others. I have the POP setting on and the auto mute off. Does IL use a lot of X band or can I shut that off too?

I'm pretty impressed by the rear range it has. My Ka started going beep beep slowly and got faster. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a cop with his lights on. This was on RT 31. It was during rush hour and he was in the middle of the road. Well, I was at a stop light waiting and there was a car in front of me and behind me. Well, all of the sudden, the cop stops on my right because he had to get into a house's driveway right where I was. I thought I was getting busted for something I didn't even do! But it was a really good test for my rear radar. Overall, I'm really impressed with it's performance! I can't wait until I head up to Waupaca, WI in June. Sorry for the long post.

Oh, as far as where I have the X50 mounted, it's just above the middle of my windshied (98 Jetta). I have a custom GM auto dimming mirror we put in that is bigger than the stock mirror. I wanted to put it a little higher because from what I've heard on this forum, cops and other people are less likely to see it, but then I can't see it myself. So I mounted it just below that. I've heard that some people mount them right at the dash, but then the radar suffers, but the laser performance benefits. Any suggestions? I'll get some pictures posted up tomorrow.

One last thing. Over even just small bumps, the mount and X50 bounce up and down a little, but enough to annoy me since I did pay $300. Does anyone have any problems like this, and if so, what did you do to fix it if you could? I checked the suction cups and they are secure. It's really not too big of a deal, but I just thought I'd post it up anyhow.

Well, instead of posting a new topic, I'm just going to continue this one. Here are the installation pics of it. I just reinstalled it from last week as I just got my windshield replaced today. I mounted it up higher and closer to the mirror to get the more "stealth look." Give any suggestions if anything is bad. Oh, the car is a 1998 VW Jetta GLX with a GM auto dimming mirror.
