Default Making The PassPort X50 Immune To Spector I/II/III ect...

Hi guys I am a newbie here. 1st post, but I have done alot of research and have a X50 and a Blinder X-Treme X20 and my GF has a Beltronics 995. But I have heard that the X50 isnt immune to the Spector Detector Detectors. Being that I live in VA and all of this stuff is Illegal, I want to keep a low profile. I know that the Beltronics STi is immune to all of these, due to its Magnesium case design. I was wondering if there was anyway to make the X50 immune. Maybe by taking it apart and lining the interior w/ tin foil or something so the Spector cant pick up the oscillator. I know it sounds retarted but would something like this work? Prolly not...

I really doubt Tin foil will work...I would say that you would need filters...which you would have to fabricate! So unless you know how to do that I dont think thats possible another way.

If you added foil the only thing that would go down is your range!

As far as I know they do not have the Spectres in VA...they do have the VG2 but the X50 can not be picked up by the VG2...so no need to worry just keep the install stealthy...

I hope that helps you out...
Anyother questions dont hesitate to ask...

The magnesium case is just 1 factor of several that make the STi immune to Spectre.

There is nothing you can do to the X50 to make it Spectre proof, unless you are an RF/microwave engineer and you took it apart and completely re-engineered the inside to somehow make it Spectre proof. I don't even think this is possible if you are an RF/microwave engineer, you would probably need to start from sratch with a whole new design.

As of right now you don't need to worry about Spectre in VA, but who knows if/when VA will get Spectres in the future.

I'm guessing that if you wrapped the ENTIRE detector in magnesium foil then it would not be picked up by spectre. However, you obviously need to leave some holes around the horns so that you can pick up signals too. This is why you have to make a filtered shell arond the horns so that it lets in the bands you want to detect, but doesn't let out radio leakage. It would be very difficult to design this, which is why we give a thumbs up to Beltronics (and maybe Escort engineers?) that designed the STi.

ya V1 is Magnesium and it gets picked up at 200 feet about still.

Is there any such thing as magnesium foil?

    Yeah there should be.

aaseavey, I'm saying if you covered the ENTIRE detector, making it so that it also could not pick up radar signals. If you wrap enough foil of any metal, eventually nothing will leak out, but nothing can get in either.
