    Default HardWire X50 through FuseBox

I've wired my x50 through the fuse box and everything is working great. I do however have this issue. I own a 2004 Voltswagon Jeta and the Cigarette lighter fuse has power on all the time even when the cars off. In other words the detector stays on all the time unless I reach up and turn it off. It's kinda funny the radio is the same way, I guess they had the passenger in mind when they designed this. It's not really that big of a deal, I've been doing it this way for 2 years. Does anyone know a fuse source in my car that is not "Hot" all the time. I would like the detector to turn off when the car is cut off. Oh, will it hurt the detector to automatically start up when the car is cranked? I didn't think about that until now.

Also on the detector it's states I'm getting 12.5 V
    That's normal Correct?

    Thanks everyone.

Rewire it to the fusebox and tap the ACC fuse.

    Use one of these:

12.5 is okay but is a little low. Cranking up the car with the detector on isn't too good for it as you send crazy voltage into your RD twice. Once you turn your ignition to 2 then when you start your car. So the detector is actually turning on...then turning off....then turning back on real quick. Not that goog for it

    Thanks for the info....

I have the detector already wired to the fuseBox and using a wiretap to the lighter fuse. I didn't think about the ACC. Thanks I'm sure that will do the trick. I may just leave it as is since what I had in mind may be bad for the detector. I plan on posting some pictures of my installation soon. It's not as unique as some of the other posting but it would be good for Jetta owners. Basically it's just a SmartCord FuseBox Run. I would have loved to mount it to the visor but everything seems to make the detector point at the hood. Even If I try to mount it in front of the visor to the ceiling board it still points down. I tried to suction cup between the Mirror and Ceiling but there is not enough room, the detector is just too big. Oh well, at least I'll get better Laser sensitivity down low......

What should the Voltage be reading? I def don't want to under power the unit. It's reading 12.5 V when the car is off. Like I said the lighter and Radio always are running Hot so you can turn them on and off while the Car is off and the key is out. Thanks
