    Default Escort X50 Install ( Pics )

As promised I'm now posting my Install pics. It's not as unique as other installs but hopefully will help some people out. The second pictures looks like the detector isn't straight but it is. The cabin of most German cars curve to the driver.

looks good, why did you mount low? better performance if you mount high

i am about to hardwire my V1 as well, i am new to vw so i am not sure were all the electrical wires are. might end up mounting low as well because there is no place near the rearview mirror

I would loved to have mounted it to the visor but everything seems to make the detector point at the hood. Even If I try to mount it in front of the visor to the ceiling board it still points down. I tried to suction cup between the Mirror and Ceiling but there isn't enough room, the detector is just too big. Oh well, at least I'll get better Laser sensitivity down low...... I still have more than enough wire to run to the ceiling so if anyone would posts pics of how they did a ceiling mount, I could easily remount. Good luck with the V1 Wiring, It's not so tuff when you find all the wiring spots. Thanks for the positive feed back, I was hoping it looked decent.....

That's a nice install !!!! Looks very professional... That's what I would like to do but instead of using the Suction Cups, use a Visor Clip and Clip into the ceiling headboard. I wish it didn't point down so much or that's the install I def would have done. I am assuming you used the suction cups to mount below the tint. I didn't think of that until I saw your Photos, good idea.....

Yeah, suction cups are the only way to go to have a hardwired, yet semi-adjustable setup.

Good luck, and let me know if you have any questiions if you decide to go that route.

You should be able to rig up a shim to level the detector if you use the visor clip to mount it.

My visor-mounted V1 pointed at the hood in my Audi, but I used layers of foam tape and velcro to fashion a shim that sits between the visor and the roofliner to level it.

You wouldn't happen to have any pics of the install would you. Just a shot of the finished install would be very helpful....
