Default Question about the display and firmware of the X50

I live in southern California and I've been testing out the red X50 REV5 for a few days now. I am going to return my red display X50 and buy one for cheaper off ebay. I was wondering if current X50 users prefer the blue or red display. I am thinking about getting a blue one just because it looks cooler but I want to know what you guys think. Also should I be concerned about getting an older unit without the updated REV5 firmware off ebay? Ebay says its brand new so I assume it will have the most current firmware but it still worries me.

    Thanks!

It can be brand new but it does not mean it is the latest revision

Stay away from Ebay, most suppliers will not give the warranty if you bought it from ebay

I'd stay away from anything with a blue display. It might look cool but I'm willing to bet it will drive you nuts at night. Red is much easier on the eyes.

As a member who just sold his X50 REV 5 blue display I can say this.

Before buying my x50 I purchased an rx-65 off of Ebay. When I felt it was giving way to many falses I called up BEL only to find out you have no warranty if you purchase off of Ebay.

I then purchased my x50 (blue display) off of Roy and was pleased with the unit. However at night time I changed the settings to only show a tiny a, c, or h in the corner for the blue was very hard on the eyes almost distracting I thought. However I have now changed up yet again to a new V1 and I could not be more happier. Its alot easier on the eyes and the arrows are very addicting!!!! It falses in the same areas as the x50 only I now have a bogey counter

I'd stay away from EBAY if you plan on getting a unit you can warranty!

expert mode on the X50 has a bogey counter too, but instead of a number it's a graph of each band (up to the limit in the display for each band). i think i'd prefer that over the number but everyone is different so that's cool. i'd be willing to give it a try though

Has there been any confirmation yet that there is any performance for functional difference between revisions, other than a higher revision number?

I dont think so. When JTW gets time he is going to test the diff REV's. He has the REV 3 and one of the forum members is sending him 3 detectors including the X50 REV5

I'll be curious to see how this affects POP and Atlanta Stealth.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the Rev 5 will be lacking in the same areas that the Rev 3 is.
