Default Escort 8500 False Laser Alerts

Purchased an 8500 X50 in Nov 04 and already had an older 8500. In mid-05 the original 8500 started giving false Laser alerts when I accelerated the Ford F-150, hit a bump or slammed on the horn. Escort charged me $40 to "repair" the problem. Now the X50 just started doing the same thing. Escort provided their stock BS response and wants $60 to repair the problem. Both the 8500 and X50 were used in the same vehicles with no electronics additions. The X50 is in my wife's low mileage Lexus and I have a problem paying Escort $60 for them to repair what I contend is a systemic quality control problem they are aware of. As usual, they are stonewalling me. I've gone to Crutchfield, who we purchased the X50 from, and asked for their assistance with Escort. So we need to hear from anyone else with the same experience and maybe we can do something if it happened to enough of us.

It honestly sounds like you have a 'noisy' electrical system in your F150, is your RD Hardwired or is it going through a cig/acc outlet?

Yeah the laser alert problem is typically noise in the electrics. Add a capacitor in the line and you'll be fine.

Do they false in the Lexus?

The repaired 8500 in the F-150 is working fine. Both the unit in the P/U and Lexus are through an outlet, not hard wired. What I cannot understand is after 1 1/2 years, why did the thing just began sending false alerts

The repaired F-150 8500 works fine. The 8500 XO in the Lexus just began sending false Laser (only) alerts. Both are through the cig outlet. Where would I find an in-line capacitor? Sounds like I may have to filter out electronic noise.
