    Default questionable Ka encounters

I just got back from a 1200mile trip that took me through texas, arkansas and Tennesee.

Confirmed hits were as follows (LEO was seen in conjunction with alert)
    34.712 constant TX (multiple hits)
    35.505 Instant AR
    35.518 Instant TX
    33.820 Instant AR
    33.667 Instant AR
    34.718 Instant TX
obviously the confirmed hits are case closed, but what bothered me is I got a lot of hits that sounded for as little as 1-3 seconds and a couple that were going for almost a minute on Ka as follows:
    34.612
    34.594
    34.622
    34.612
    34.648
    34.630
was I just not seeing the LEO in these cases? because all the hits seemed legitimate triggering at least a 2/3 signal strength alert. At one point where the alert sounded for around a minute I did notice that frequencies jumped around from 34.61_ to 34.62_ (insert any digit on the end of either, it jumped around a lot). I am realy confused on this right here, does the Arkansas highway patrol just thave crappy equipment (doubtful since both the confirmed 33.8 and 35.5 came from there) or did I pass a bunch of crappy RD's and slow down for no reason?
Wow sorry for the length, just a confused newbie looking for answers.

Also, for anyone in the northeast texas area, LEO's run constant and instant on Ka in the 34.7__ frequency range as well as K constant on 24.182 (multiple confirmed hits). Also if you cruise I35 regularly look for an instant on Ka hidden right after construction areas where they use constant K drones to slow traffic. I came across a couple of traps set up that way.

Alright I swear Im done now

Welcome to the forum. I have run a few times up to Texarkana from here with my RX65 and I recieved 1 Ka false. Normally if you get a Ka alert from the RX65 it is legit. It is very good at not falsing on Ka band.

But I would say it was a little bit of both in your case. Probably a lot of the time you may not have seen the LEO and other times you may have passed someone with a Crapa in their car. My suggestion is...if you get a Ka alert slow down always until you have identified a Crapa in a windsheild or the LEO

OOPS. Do you own a RX65 or Escort. ops: I forgot what forum I was in

sorry, I didnt specify, I have an Escort 8500 x50, I bought it about a month and a half ago so it is either a rev5 or maybe I was lucky enough to get one of the new rev6.1's I have heard rumors of.

Another question, how strong of an alert do you typically get from a crappy detector?

Default got kind of an answer for you

Ok the 33.8 ghz is mph bee 3 which is pop which could be some of the very short alert times once again they can't legally ticket you from this mode they have to lock you in instant on or constant to write you. the 35. ghz is most likely a kustom signals gun... they don't give much alert atleast they didn't to my x50 blue atleast 1000 plus feet but thats not a hell of alot when your doing 70 or 80 mph ... but my Leo was sitting behind a building so not really a good test there it was being blocked so i prolly have atleast a mile or two on him... now the other freq's like the 33.662 stuff like that 1. its either a leaky detector your falsing on. 2. your detector is not always 100 percent accuret in spec mode so that could be it if its off some like 33.662 that is close to 33.8 so it could be mph industries bee 3 see. 3.it was a Leo and his gun is not properly tuned and that is why it is off a little or alot.. usually it isn't a hell of alot so it makes it hard to tell between the two. This is why spec mode is nice but i really don't care for it i like expert mode spc mode is cool but i like expert mode if i get in a situation like that.

Well just Sub X50 where I put RX65. To be honest I have not run the X50 for any amount of time so I can not speak of it from experience but one would assume it would act like the RX65
