    Default Low volume--stuck

Trying to help my dad out a little---He has a X50 and he told me that the volume is really low, even though when he programs it to Loud! He assured me its set to loud but there is no differance in Volume between low and loud. ANything he could be missing or overlooked?

He is getting ready to send it back for this....and thought I would ask here real quick.

X50 really does have a low volume level and the louder option does not sound as pleasing which is even what the manual states.
Low volume was one of my biggest gripes when I tried one.
Option: Is there an external speaker jack?

Im not sure on the Jack--

He and I both know how loud "loud" is as this problem just creaped up. It was loud but now the volume has dropped off alot and he cannot get it back. The loud setting is not loud anymore...lol

Defective, if under return policy sent it back, if not sent it in for service.
First try a reset holding all three buttons down while turning it on. (settings will be lost)

Yup, I remembered correctly it does have an earphone jack.

I don't know if an external speaker is enough, you might need a power amplified speaker to raise the volume this way.
We have an auxiliary input in out Expedition DVD player that we use for I-pods.
Some radios like a Pioneer I have in my work truck have an auxiliary input (amplified) but you have to buy it as an option.

    Default Reset

Try the reset, otherwise it could be the speaker.

I remember someone else awhile back also mentioning a problem, I think most of us did not believe him, he said that the Escort was not loud enough, we said are you kidding, perhaps there was a glitch after all like in this case.

"LOUD" does not change the volume level (persay), it changes the tones to make them more catching/ear piercing... the dial is the only thing that can really change the volume... obviously make sure its cranked all the way up.

Send it back if you would like, or heck I would just buy the external jack if I was spending my money [if its not under warrenty,, just send it back if it is](yes all x50's have the jack) for the amplified speaker output and have the loudest set up out there (minus screamers).

With that said... is it very very very low volume, and when you turn the knob it doesnt change at all? If so that would seem to be an X50 problem, if the volume gets louder as you turn up the knob, you guys may just be used to the V1 alert, which is much louder... just not as catchy as the X50 on 'Loud'.
