Right, I have made myself a DIY smartcord today, and it works for sure!

Instead of using surface mount type fuse (as in the standard smartcord) I have chosen to use 20mm quick blow fuse with fuse holder, which should make changing fuse much easier.

This PCB will be mounted in a small box hidden in the car, and the mute button is located somewhere easily reachable.

I didn't bother about the LEDs being hidden, coz I rarely look at them anyway (especially when you are driving). I put them there just to see if the DIY stuff works... and for trouble shooting if anything do occurs.

All the parts are standard stuff, and man, it wasn't hard and expensive at all!!

is there anyway to make a circuit in which all you have is the alert LED blinking when you detect radar??

i know the black and the red send 13.8 volts all the time but when they detect radar it sends 13.8V at intervals to make a LED blink. I just tested this with a multimeter. How would you make it so a led would stay off until radar was detected and then have it blink??

i dont want a mute button or power led...just a way to wire an alert led...

    Thanks.

well i would assume that all youd have to do to make something like that is replace the power LED with a regular diode (Not of the light emmiting variety) and that should about do it

yeah thats what im saying, follow the schematic that 205GTi posted here and make that except instead of the power LED just insert a regular diode there
