Default DIY SmartCord... (Now Completed with Pics!!)

For those of you who have taken a smart cord apart... could you please tell me what type (and spec) of transistor and the fuse is it?

    Many Thanks in advance!

Right... After a quick search, I have sorted the problem...

Could anyone please double check if this diagram is correct? And what is the type of fuse in the smart cord? Is it one of those self reset fuse?

ive seen that diagram before... infact i have a printout sitting in front of me... the type of fuse in the actual escort made directwire kit is a fast blowing 2amp glass tube type fuse one of the smaller diameter ones

    Thanks Arashi666!

I have not done electronics before, so please bare with me if it sounds dumb...

I see that the Power LED and Alert LED is connected in series in the same wire... what is it in the circuit that separate their individual operation? :?

thats actually a really good question Im not much for electronics either, im an ME major myself not EE..... but if I HAD to GUESS id say it might have something to do with where the black wire is connected to them between the power and the alert, they probably just share the same source of power (the LEDs) and the black lead might send the alert signal from the RD to the circuit......... thats just my guess it may be right but it may not be either believe it if you want

Sounds like a reasonable guess  I guess you are right, as LED can only be driven in one direction of electrical flow, so when the pulsed signals fron the black wire arrives, it will only goes to the Alert LED... (Well, that's my guess that adds to your theory anyway  )

Can anyone do knows the answer tell us if it's correct then!? I have got all the parts ready to be soldered together... It's just the courage of firing up the RD with such a DIY setup, so I just wanna make sure beforehand incase I burn my RD (touchwood)...

oh yeah a VERY important thing to note........ RJ11 cords have the colors laid out differently on both sides, 1 shows them in 1 order and on the other side its reverse, so check what color orientation it should be by comparing it to the original plug piece (from the original cig lighter plug) that goes into the detector

I will make sure I keep that in mind.... I will double check the voltage and polarity on the original plug before I do it with the DIY setup...

I will post pics and stuff once I have time to get it installed on my car~ Thanks for your help!
