    Default Auto Mode

What does Auto Mode really do and Do you trust it ? I've driven with it in Auto around town and it seems to false more then City Mode. Not that my X50 falses a lot but there are some places that cause falsing. I just can't tell any real difference in this mode.

I've read the Manual but it doesn't go into any real detail. I would just like a little Hard Info on this mode.

Ireally dont know for sure but i think its just figuring out how to process signals, somewhere between city and highway... I personally leave it in Highway (with my X-band off) and I decide which ones are false, questionable, or real... the expert meter also helps with that...I bought my X50 because it was good and sensitive and I like the full sensitivity of highway mode over all else

from my experience it falses less in auto mode but I don't think it's that responsive like highway or city

I believe what it does is AUTOmatically adjust the sensativity of the RD. (As with other I use mine in Highway though).

So in other words: When your out on the highway (in Automode) and it hasn't recieved an alert in 45minutes, it will be very sensative (probably near highway mode sensativity to all bands)... but when you go into a city, and it starts to detect lets say: 3X signals & 1k it will decrease the sensativity on those bands (or maybe just X), so it falses less... since the odds of a real LEO source(s) being 3X signals and 1K is highly unlikely.

In other words: What it does is constantly process the incoming signals and AUTOmatically determines the sensativity level, whereas it will still pick up real-alerts, but reject some lower-strength falses.

Just my .02 on what it (probably) does.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought. I figured it was some type of sensitivity filter. From all the information I've gathered so far, it works on all bands X, K, and KA. However, In my experience the detector seems to false as much as Highway mode and I'm not getting any real sensitivity filter from it. I normally run my detector in Highway mode so I know where and how many bars I'm going to receive during a false. It may be one of those issues where one X50 works better than another. Basically, I just wanted to see if using Auto Mode would be beneficial but it doesn't seem to be the case with my detector. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if I really trust it adjusting sensitivity on the fly like that. I mean it could diminished range on a real Leo Threat. I guess you can't really complain though it's trying to do what you ask it to and that's reduce sensitivity on weaker or recurring signals. Has anyone had any real experience with Auto Mode? Have you noticed about the same or greatly reduced falses?

    It only affects X band.

I have had an instant on X experience on the highway at 80- mph with it. gave me about 7 or 8 seconds warning.

i agree^ it only affects x-band, i drive around on highway mode most of the time and today i used auto to see if it filters the useless k-band alerts and it did not, you would never want reduced sensitivity to Ka or K

I live in an area with highways and little urban density. I've given up using City or Auto. Auto seems to reduce sensitivity. I'm not sure but it also seems to apply your City settings (LoX, NoX). Sort of like a "Suburban" mode.

Although not in use in my area (AFAIK), X is used in NY so I now have it on, stay in Highway and accept some a few weak falses. Every town, county and state LEO that I see regularly use K and Ka, some utilizing POP and occasionally LIDAR.

I get alot of moving instant on X from the Ohio State Troopers. I get alot of it on rural areas too.

I just leave it in highway most of the time.
