    Default scanning of different bands...

so this is a total noob question but Im gonna put my neck on the line anyways. Someone intelligent correct me if Im wrong but the scanner inside the RD scans all frequencies searching for radar threats and this takes time, correct? So if I program X-band off when I drive back to school though the various states that I will be visiting that dont use it, will that free up scanning time to be devoted to more prioritized bands? Kinda dumb, I know, but it seems to follow from logic that it is easier to find something if you can rule out the places it is hiding(cheasy analogy for not wasting time scanning X band). Anyways just a question.

In reality yes, but now where the amount of time to blink. The computer inside the RD is super fast prosessor. You wont notice a difference by turning it off.The other bands wont recieve better range because technaically its difference frequency than other band. Only thing is the responsiveness may increase a little bit.

See my post in this thread:

hookem is basically right: X-Band is so narrow (only 100 MHz) compared to everything else: Superwide Ka is 2600 MHz, K is 200 MHz for a total of 2800 MHz. So it will make very little difference, even if the detector changes it sweep with X-Band turned off (not all do).

I think mine doesnt because I set it in City NoX and drove to the shopping center near my house which has X-band doors and flipped it from City to Highway and immediately alerted to X without any delay, I didnt even hear the beep it makes when it changes modes just went straight to X alert.
    Thanks Jim
