    Default HELP hardwiring with a phone cord.

    Guys, im trying to hardwire my X50, but currently i cannot seem to figure out which points on the phone cord connector are pos, and which is neg, Anyone have a diagram of what i need to do?

    Also what amperage fuse do i need?

    Thanks guys ive been workin on this forever...

    ok, on the lighter plug, look at the end that plugs into the detector, holding the clip side down. The red wire is posative, the green is negative. Many of the phone wires that you can buy have six wires, if you have one of these, then the fourth wire is pos, and the third is neg

    I use a 3.5 amp, but I know some use a 2 amp...either should be ok

    Could use a 1 amp...

    The best way IMO is to take a voltmeter, and jam the probes at the different conductors of the connector. That way you KNOW you are getting the right ones. But yep I think jd's got it right, the two middle pins... I think if you look at it with the cord going towards you and the clip down, the one on the left is + and the right is -. Do NOT quote me on that.

    Be careful doing this, as the wires are very close together, and it is quite easy to touch your test leads together, and this WILL fry your smartcord. I speak from experience
