    Default X50 Smartcord question

Is it possible to rig an external LED light through the smartcord?

I was thinking about the car alarm LED and its location, perfect to see when my eyes are focused on the road. My cig lighter is low and at an angle where I cant see it flashing unless I look down at it. I was thinking about making and external LED to place somewhere around the dash for easy viewing.

    Thanks

You can even drill a few holes in the dash, run the circuit board on the back, peel off the "PASSPORT" sticker, stick it over the led's and button and make it look factory...

Would I then have to run something similar as a hardwire?

Im not a big fan of drilling holes in the dash, wouldnt mind tapping a line up beside the alarms LED.

Im not really looking the concealment whereas it is almost impossible to conceal the thing in my truck. If I mount high there is no where to really do so plus anybody that looks in there will be able to see it since the truck sits high.

If I mount low it is hard to take it down, I take my RD down and store it everywhere I go, even if it is to get a pack of gum in the store. I dont trust people these days. I have it pretty darn close the the center of the window, equal on all sides. I have had luck with it here picking up laser even though its pointless to me since I have no VEIL or jammer.

Only been hit with laser once, laser isnt a big thing here just yet.

sorry, didnt even hit the point I was trying to hit. The reason for this is: my radio or windows are down, it is set on LOUD but it still isnt loud enough. Also when I do run at night, I run in Dark Mode and wouldnt be able to see the blinking LED from the smartcord.
It would make life a little easier to have the LED in a location that is easy to see.

I dont really want to hardwire it because its more of a pain taking down having to unplug the jack on the side then it is to just unplug the smartcord. Its almost like my truck is ergonomically designed (besides the lighter placement) to fit an RD. There is a groove that keeps the smart cord out of the way of everything.

I just took my smartcord apart to take a look...There's enough room in there for a small connector, like the ones used for the batteries in cordless phones or something. You could desolder the alert LED and solder the connector in its place. A connector that small will be harder to remove than unplugging the connector on the side of the detector, though.

You could do what you really want by modifying the lighter plug to give you the signal for the LED on the side contact (only one is used for power). But you'd have to modify your power outlet to be able to use that signal.

I know how you feel. I have mine hardwired and it is much more of a pain to disconnect the detector than just yanking the smartcord and tossing the whole deal under the seat. :?
