Default Gonna make my first purchase

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster.
Ive narrowed down my choice to an x50 or an rx65. As of now I am leaning more towards an x50 because my friend has one and i experienced its true power ( we got a minute and a half heads up on regular streets). I know that the rx65 and x50 are very similar sans the KU and Voice, but I have been reading threads concerning the rx 65, it seems like people have been receiving damaged units. Should I be cautious of purchasing an rx 65? Also I am wondering if any members here are from the Overland Park/Leawood area of Kansas and If so, are you aware of what bands are being used? Thanks for the help.

X50 all the way, you can't go wrong.....

Story: I was heading home this past Friday on the interstate and it was late. This Chrysler 300 comes blaring pass me at prob 80 miles an hour. I thought to myself, this guy better slow down, he's just asking for a ticket. Well he passed me and was long gone. The interstate comes to a point where it bends around a corner and is prob a good place for a State Trooper to hide since line of sight is gone at that point. Sure enough, when I was almost at the corner, KA beeps a few times and stops. Then it happens once again but with more bars. Hummm, this seems like "Instant On" KA to me. About half a mile later I see Smokey Bear about to get out of his car to give Mr. Chrysler 300 a ticket....... Could have been me but I have an X50 ..........

One note: It's not only having one of the top 3
detectors but knowing how to use it that makes a difference.

The Escort Folder, so of course youll be getting Escort Supporters

But Ill lay it out reasonably:

X50 can track 8 contacts at once (Sure it wont happen, but its there), the RX-65 can track only 3

the X50 has the uber scanning dot, the RX65 doesnt (Really pointless to detection, but its a neat option not on the Bel)

X50 is easiet of the top 3 to obtain, no arguements thats just how it is

X50 is cheaper (Or more expensive if you like the Blue  ) than the RX-65

thats all I can really say

Man, I don't know. I've tested the x50 and own an RX65. I have to say at this point to buy the RX65 from Roy. I think it has better Ka detection .
I am going to buy an X50 shortly and then I will let y'all know the results.

I own both, I'd say the Rx65 is better.

I feel like it has better filtering in the city than the x50 does. In addition, the threat display is more easy to read. It shows me bands and relative signal strengths expressed as numbers. I can't be bothered to squint at the x50's multi-threat display to try to decypher how many signals there are and how strong they are. When I'm going down a highway at 80mph, I can't look across half the car to see if its one tiny little line or two tiny little lines next to KA. But on the Rx65 I can instantly see the band and strength as a number KA6 for example...

Hands down it beats the x50.

Of course the Valentine one is also another excellent option.

I really don't mind filtering as of now. I want to make sure that the detector is working flawlessly before I worry about filtering the falses. As for the display if I hear it beep I am going to slow down automatically it will just be a reflex. My friend is getting an rx65 so i plan on comparing the two. I am going after school on fri to go pick up the x50 (blue) and then hopefully i can give it some good tests. Any particular settings i should keep it on?

    Just to point out,

You posted this in the Escort forum, although Bel and Escort are Merged - the x50 users post more here than anyone so expect more results leaning that way.

I do agree with them though. It sounds as if the x50 would be a better purchase for you. You can't go wrong either way - its just whichever you prefer. Enjoy!!
