I got a Cobra XRS9300 in about January. I found a couple traps with it, but this fall my brother ordered a blue 8500 x50 before he went to college, and I could no longer resist. (Don't want to have a detector I can't trust.) I ordered an x50 right after my bro did (red). I've found a few traps and been lasered once (or caught splash scary either way). There was never anything real serious until last night. I live in a suburb of Greenville. I was coming home down the highway, and it was nighttime and foggy. I came around a corner under an overpass, and suddenly Ka goes to full strength. I slowed down fast. The rd went off for a second then stopped. It then came on full strength again (There was a truck behind me.) and there's a leo in the median practically invisible if you're not looking. I then proceed through town and notice someone pulled over on the other side of the street (interesting). I get through town (limit still 35mph). I'm headed out and the limit is about to go to 45 and Ka goes crazy again. There's another leo a little off the highway near a side rd (also hard to see).
Yay for escort!
One thing I've noticed about these radars is that they don't seem to set my detector off much unless they're pointed straight at me. It's like it goes from almost nothing to full even when they're just driving around. Is this normal for Ka, and does anyone know or have an idea what brand these are?
