Default Fun Laser False with my X50

    Vehicle: 2006 Mazda 3 GT, c/w HIDs.
Equipment: X50 red (for testing) and STi permanently hard wired
Location: 401 Westbound near Hwy 8 in Waterloo
    Time: 12:30AM

The high way ws very busy so I moved my mirrors to reflect bright headlights from my car and then I got a 2 sec laser alert.

I slammed on the breaks because I saw an overpass ahead but then saw nothing.

Kept driving and noticed that everytime I moved my mirrors my X50 would false.

My x50 was mounted low and my STi was mounted high. Got a few laser falses with the Sti as well.

Most of the cars around me had standard halogen bulbs and no HIDs.

    Any comments or experiences similar?

Interesting experience... and a nice car too! I almost bought one myself.

Anyway, a little more info would be helpful... where are your RDs mounted? Which mirror did you move, the one on the windshield or the side mirrors? Are they power mirrors? If they are, it's probably the electrical noise from the mirror's motors that set off your X50.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Sorry for the lack of info.

The X50 was mounted low right infront of the drivers seat attached to the windsheild hidden by the dash.

I moved the drivers side mirror and they are power mirrors.

    Thanks

my guess is it's the mirrors themselve's are tinted in such a way that when white light hits the mirror it's reflected as infared light

    Default false laser

Yes lately I have been having false lasers as well, some of them go on for like 2 mins!

My unit is just under 2 years old (not even), Not many false on any other band. It has fallen (sucion stopped) from my windsheild about a dozen times but usaully when it was parked.
I'm prety sure (though not 100%) it is not "mirrors/sun etc" since I actually have had these at night....When I first got my unit I barely ever got laser, first year it went off twice, once false, second I got a ticket :-( . I usaully leave it in my car so I think maybe the heat hurt it? I live michigan so we are not talking 120 degrees or anything....
Tell me if you find out anymore, I am about to contact escort to see if I should sent it in ...(though that is my last option).

I have it just under my rearview but I have had it there since I bought, and I drive the same route.

BTW all other band bands work flawlessly! (including KA...perfect very long range....for KA :-) ).
