Although it took some getting used to, I had many many close calls. X, Ka, POP. PLane???
First off, the X50 saved me in Florida!
First coming out of Florida on I95, there was a leo who were parked in the median on the down hill side of a small bridge like overpass. My rabbit was cresting the hill when I got the first beep of Ka. I let off the gas but it scared the **** out of me whe i saw the leo was right there. There was a second Leo doing the exact same thing down the road, but my X50 blipped as i was cresting the hill.
Also, i was approaching a police u turn clearing, i got instant on Ka. I hit the breaks. Leo drove out of the clearing, and while rolling at like 5mph was blasting his radar to see who he had caught at 15-18 mph over the limit. wasnt me. I was at 68 mph by the time he came out onto the highway.
The scariest was again on I 95 SB, south of daytona beach. I was cruising 15-20 +mph over. Out of the corner i see the leo sitting in the shoulder by a rest area. I slowed down but saw he was entering traffic and coming up to me fast. I quickly removed my RD. he pulled along side of me and I did not look at him. He then went fot the SUV ahead of me. Not sure if he was using LIDAR or a plane, but I had no warning what so ever. RD was mounted high, trying out low now to see if i can detect LIDAR better.
As for the rest of the trip.
Got hit with X in NC. No problemo.
In Georgia, they do have POP!!! The highway was sut down and a LEO had his car running on the side of the road. As soon as traffic moved, I would get POP then Ka. This lasted for a bit even though traffic had stopped again. As soon as traffic began to move, POP and Ka.
MY X50 picked up Ka a mile away in windy, foggy Sam's Gap ( I 81 TN)
Long story, many other run ins. All in all, i was able to make it back with no tickets!
