Default Is the ka warning on the solo s2 to dangerous

I saw the recent test the lidar guys did on th s2 and the range was only about 500 feet, by then the LEO would already have a reading on your speed.

I would also assume for instant on the advance radar warning would be even less

The range on the S2 is much more then 500 feet under normal usage conditions...

    With that said:

It is a cordless detector, even though it is the best cordless there is... it will lack in Ka detection, and especially instant on Ka detection. I would try a corded unit if possible.

The test was over a hill, so the LEO would not have a reading on your speed.

On a straight line course, the range the Solo s2" onclick="replacer_hook(126)" target="_blank" href="http://www.radardetector.net/solo2">Solo S2 can detect the radar would be many times the range at which police radar can clock your speed. In fact, this is true about pretty much ALL of today's radar detectors.

    Roy tested it at:

    www.RadarBusters.com

Go to the S2, then go to the 'tests' tab. it should give you his numbers on the unit.

I'd prefer the x50 over S2 since they're pretty much the same price.

Oh certainly, the X50 is even less actually (for Red)... and would be an exponentially better RD.

thanks for the info guys, the link on the solo s2 test on radar roys sight showed the cordless performance to be more than I need.

however, that's with constant on radar could the s2 completely miss a instant on or laser encounter with its sleep cycle

    thanks

    Default agree

Agree w/ most others on here. Get the X50, I think you will enjoy it. The red or blue are good models even though I haven't had a chance to try the red version.

    It could potentially miss instant-on...
If you NEED a cordless, the Solo S2 is the best cordless detector in the world. But the perofrmance of high-end corded models will far surpass the S2's performance. In most real-world radar encounters you generally will not see miles and miles of range.
