    Default question?

if i have my x50 using the cord that is hardwired to my ignition with no fuse, is that safe. when i check my voltage it shows 11.5v-11.7v. so no worries there. i just leave it on full power when i it shut off/ turn on. just a question

If putting in a fuse isnt that much of a hassel, Id put it in. Better to be safe than sorry. Usually, it's safe to run it without one, but it's those spikes that can kill.

i would put on in as well. but how many times have you guys seen that fuse blow? rarely. Its okay to do it but i would not deem it 100% safe by any means.

The fuse isn't to protect the RD from spikes, it's to protect you and your car from short circuits. A short on an unfused circuit can lead to a fire.

    Default always always always

Always Always Always put in the inline fuse!!! This is an electronic NOGO in wireing. You always Put in a inline fuse as you may have constant current draw now but you never know when that jolt shall occure that is the problem with electricity my freind. Do you really want to have to buy another $330.00 x-50? I thought not so don't be cheap go down to wal-mart or radio shack and get yourself an inline fuse if you don't already have one.

    Default Well..

Well.. I learned this one from my buddy who learned it the hard way when he had a power jolt and his hole electrical system melted in his dash!! He had to rewire his entire dash in my living room!! He spent half his day wireing him watching him I thought I don't ever wana have to do that! So I always always always use inline fuses!

    Default Also..

Also..Some cheap fuses aren't the best way to go..Don't go to family dollar and buy the cheapest fuses you can get! I had a buddy use a cheap fuse and when it busted it melted together and fried everything! I had another budy use one of their cheap cheap fuses and it didn't break when it should have and fried his $500.00 CB!! OUCH! So don't go cheap cheap on fuses! I mean walmart fuses or a gas station fuse is fine just don't get fuses from a dollar store they are cheap for a reason they don't work rite..
