Ok, I just got back from a recent trip (from Fort Worth, TX to Houston, TX). I decided to bring along my X50 to use in my friend's car. Along the way (I-45 southbound), the X50 was pretty lousy as compared to my previous experiences with it. The Ka band went off when I was at MOST 500 feet from the cop (I saw the cop before the radar detector went off). The X50 also slipped up on my way from Houston to Galveston. It went off right when I got beside the LEO on the left shoulder lane.
I usually get about a 1.5-2 mile range on the Ka band in Fort Worth (even from around a curve). Why did it suck in Houston and Galveston?
I mounted the X50 low in my friend's car as I do with my car. The X50 really really disappointed me.
What could of caused the low detection ranges?
