just purchased The 8500 X50 Red
sence i am the new owner of a x50 i am wondering if this is a good spot for the x50?
also i seen some people use the hardwire setup and i was thinking of relocating its "package" thus putting it right next to the < > Flasher button or to the left side.
what do you guys think?
input welcome
sorry about the bad lighting
Edit: i have moved it down below the tint strip a bit and here is the new pic from the outside

a little lower so it does not have to go through the tint strip and why dont you have it on the drivers side so you can see the display better?

looks good, either place would work for the hardwire kit, if its more out of the way you want its perfectly fine to put it behind the tint strip, unless its by some chance metallic like mine, otherwise tint affects just laser, and since its high already laser is out the window anyways

I actually think that the high-mount doesn't really become too much of a problem for laser warning, in real-world situations.
I've actually gotten about a half-mile's worth of warning from my x50, high-mount, from LIDAR targeting vehicles in front of me on stretches of long, flat highways.
I think that mounting high, rather than low, gives the detector a better chance of catching laser "bouncing/scattering" - and that mounting low, even though it gives best detection when you're being hit, is in-essence useless as it simply alerts you to the fact that you're already toast.
What I consider more of a "problem" is simply the x50's known lesser capabilities against laser detection versus the V1 - and that if LIDAR enforcement is your primary concern, then the V1 would have been a better choice.
-----
As for positioning the remote, as others have suggested here, either place will work - but something for you to consider would be your "handedness" as well as your need to operate other vehicle controls at or near the time of the alert.
For example, if possible, I will downshift my vehicle (which is a manual/stick-shift) to covertly slow my vehicle when I receive a threat alert. Thus, placing the mute controls of my x50 on the LEFT side would be somewhat problematic, as I would need my left hand to steer the vehicle while my right hand was used to downshift the transmission. Thus, instead, I've elected to place my remote on the RIGHT side, allowing me to trip the mute button with my "stick" hand.
Review your driving practices and needs before you make a placement, or, alternatively, temporarily wire-up the remote so that you can change-placement and figure out what you prefer before you do a more permanent mounting.- Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges

It looks like the x50's laser detection is still a notch above the RX-65.

yes
Yes metroplex, the X50 is above the RX65 in terms of laser detection but the V1 is above the X50 for laser.

So mounting it in the tint area wouldn't do much if its a non-metalic thing.
In the tint i shall mount.X50 RED REV 6.1
