    Default Solo2--K Band Door Openers??

Just purchased a new Solo2 after 15 years of using the original Passport and have noticed that many door openers at commercial stores are reading as K band on the Solo. Is this right are is this detector defective?

They all read as X-band on the previous unit.

    Thanks for replies.

Yes, this is right. A lot of motion sensors are using K-Band now...

Good to know--thanks for the replies!

I am amazed at how many more alerts I get with the new detector vs. the old.

I was going to buy a solo s2 recently, but after looking at the guys of lidar. The ka range is downright scary. Plus I do not want to take the risk of missing an instant on or laser alert due to its "sleep cycle"

I'm not sure, but it sounds like he means the original passport:

Oh wow, that is old.. !

Solo 2 is the best cordless radar detector out there.

But detection wise, the performance isnt as great as the X50 or RX65. But its something good, if you hate dangling wires, and a frequent traveler.

I debated between Escorts two models but decided on the Solo2 because I have two cars and one is a convertible. I can easily remove it from the ragtop and put in the glove box or switch it to the other car. I have both cars hard-wired as well so if I suddenly become flush I will get an 8500 too.

Either way, the Solo2 is a definite step up from what I was using and they kept me ticket free for 20 years.
