Is there anyone with the new 9500i willing to test it VS. their current detector?
I see all the post saying they can block this and that, thats great, it blocks Walgreens & Walmart, what about when it comes to a real threat?

Laser Interceptor Dual, Laser Interceptor Quad, Valentine 1 & The Escort 8500 X50 - Blue, Uniden BC296D, GRE500, Lasershield, 2011 Kia Soul +, Yamaha FZ6, 2005 Black Dodge Neon SRT-4,
I'll try this weekend against my V1 and RX65...I can tell you that my drive to work and through town is a lot more enjoyable...I could care less if the V1's range is slightly better than the 9500i...The V1 is just too noisy for me and is starting to really show it's age and reliabilty..I had to send my 4 month old V1 in 4 times because of all the problems I was having with it...We will see if escort holds up to it's great quality with the new unit

That's what I am thinking. I would much prefer a detector that when the alert goes off I know it's "radar" and not the drugstore etc. (even if it's 1/10th or so of a second slower). I've had V1's since their beginning and have been pleased (except for the falses). Kudos to Escort for something different! I guess it will boil down to driving techniques and routes driven. I rarely drive more than 10 over, so I probably don't need as much warning as one who drives 20+ over. For me I'd prefer quiet and reliability of the signal. Those that drive faster would obviously need as much warning as possible and thus have to take the falses with that.Originally Posted by riley2638
Now lets see about "Escort's" reliability.
Yeah, I used to be a V1 fan boy myself, until it failed to report on K 3 time and one of the times resulted in a ticket with a fine...How can it save you when it doesn't work half the time...I'm not the only one that has had problems with the V1 quality over the past few months...Not saying that all the V1's are crap, but in my case, it's not worth chancing another ticket when I have the 9500i and Rx65 (that works) to fall back on...
I hate to be a "doubting Thomas" but I'm betting that the 9500i will be a fine radar detector for about a year.
After that the GPS will begin having issues finding satelites and there goes the whole basis for the 9500i being better or different than other radar detectors.
Again, this is just a hunch, but I'm also willing to bet on it.
I hope that's not the case...I haven't had one issue with the GPS feature as of yet (Two Days into owning), but this feature is simply amazing..I have owned all the "best" detectors from the past 10 years and this is, by far, the best IMO....I have since picked up real threats on the Highway and it gave awesome range...We will have to see how it performs down the raod, but for now, I'm a VERY happy customer
I too am a V1 fanboy, but the lockout feature of the 9500i is making me thinking of jumping. The feature I love about the V1 is the arrow. The feature I hate is it is too sensitive in town and at work, that I usually shut it off. Vg1 is no help if I forget to turn it on. I can't shut X band off because I live in New Jersey.
But you can put it in the advanced logic mode.Originally Posted by brianric
