I plugged mine in today in the cage and experienced an almost noise free ride!Originally Posted by riley2638

I did get my normal hit at the local convenience store with their K-band doorbell, but it is now locked out. The speed warning in mph that pops up is neat too - courtesy of the GPS which acquired satellites pretty quick.
The only other hit in 20 miles of playing with it on the way to work was around a school zone with X-band (?!?). Speed popped up saying 29 mph. I don't know if school zones are preloaded into the unit (I doubt it), but it still was a pretty neat warning. I can see a database of school zones and construction zones being built for this unit and being able to be loaded into it. Buddy got a ticket for $491 for blowing through a construction zone at 55 mph even though no workers were present. He's interested in it now.
Voice is pretty cool and unit seems louder than the 8500 since the speaker is maybe 4 times larger than the old unit. Display's auto-brightness worked properly too, right out of the box. Volume pushbutton worked excellent, more so than the noisy pots of yesterday's units (and my dang radio that's acting up now!).
So far so good. Bit of a learning curve, but it seems easier than the 8500 to program. Now to get it interfaced and mounted on something fast - like the bike.
Now I'll return the forum to those thin-skinned vacuum-tube powered V1 owners of yesteryear.
