Default 9500 HIGHWAY, CITY, AUTO

While sitting in the parking lot of a known k band false the 9500 while in highway gives me one bar signal. In city mode there is no signal detected as in auto. I understand why the auto does not pick up due to me beind stationary. However, i would think the 9500 while in city mode should pick up the one bar k band signal. I switched modes numerous times even shutting the unit off and on. I am wondering if city mode effects low k band signals as well as x band. Escorts manual claims city mode only effects x band but i wonder. Anyone else have similar expierences with this.

In city mode, the K band and X band sensitivity is decreased. The A mode is a combination of H and C mode based on speed.

That is what i am thinking too based on my expierience. However the manual of the 9500 stated in city mode only x band sensitivty is reduced full sensitivty is maintained on all other bands. Looked a page 9 of the manual here is a link

You are right. Test your 9500i with the X50 in standard meter if you have it. The 9500i seems to lag in K band performance even in hwy mode.

mine in highway works great. It was in city that i did not understand it not going off. Well with the gps filter i can leave it in highway all the time because if it a known false i will lock it out. Figure within 2-3 weeks of normal driving this unit will be very very quiet

It looks like they copied the X50 manual and simply added the new 9500i features such as GPS, TrueLock, and Marked Locations. But the 9500i behaves differently than the X50 when it comes to setting A, C, or H mode.

I have had my 9500i alert to X and Ka while stopped at red lights. So the 9500i's detection may be greatly reduced while stopped but it is not completely shut down in terms of detection.
