Should i buy the the escort passport 8500 X50 Red on amazon? Im talking about the refurbished one which is $203. Is it a risk? I honestly dont have enough money to spend $300 for a new one. I need a good radar detector that is effective and around $100-$200. I was thinking of getting a cobra but i heard they are horrible. So can someone please suggest what i should do? Buy the escort on amazon refurbished or buy a different kind of radar detector?<DEALER LINK REMOVED>

I wouldn't buy used, refurbished, or what may be claimed as new from say eBay.

Consider the 7500S from Escort...it's about 220...but incredibly effectivley; long range, lots of features, easy to use, and made by Escort...the Mercedes of Radar

The 7500S is weak and it is certainly not worth $220. Escort is more like the Honda Civic of radar detectors while the Valentine One is like the Acura NSX of radar detectors. Check the stats because there is no comparison.

Jazzy, the article above is for the 7500 NOT the 7500S. The 7500 is not even made anymore,and the 7500S has better range than published above. Second, the 7500 and 7500S were never intended to compete with the V1. The V1 costs nearly twice what the 7500S does, and coolkidd already stated he doesn't have that much right now. The 8500 X50 is the direct competitor to the V1, and can meet or beat V1 in every category except rear range, and of course it doesn't have the arrows.

Coolkidd...hit Roy up and ask him about the Escort X50, or if that is still too much, a Bel RX55 is an excellent lower cost alternative. In any case, I DO NOT advise used/remanufactured/refurbished units.
